While wireless earbuds are popular with many folks due to their portability and versatility, wireless on-ear and over-ear headphones are a great choice for more serious listeners. They can offer better comfort and a more immersive listening experience than their in-ear counterparts, while also delivering battery life that can be measured in days.

Bose has been making great-quality headphones for years now, and sets of their cans have been topping our best wireless headphones list for what seems like forever. So, when the company announced they were revamping their entire wireless headphones (and earbuds) lineup, naturally, the audio world's collective ears perked to hear what they had to say.

For the last year or so, Sony has completely dominated the world of noise cancellation. Whether you were on the hunt for full-size over-ear headphones or tiny in-ear buds, there's really only been one place to go for top-of-the-line audio gear. That won't be the case for long, as Bose — Sony's long-time rival in the battle for ANC domination — is finally returning with a successor to the aging QuietComfort 35 II headset.

Here's your first peek at Bose's successor to the QuietComfort 35 II

Just don't expect it to show up any time soon

In the admittedly limited scope of high-end noise-canceling cans, Sony and Bose are locked in a knock-down, drag-out fight. The consensus seems to be that Sony's had a slight edge over the last few years, but Bose is eager to come back. Today we get to see its next-gen Quiet Comfort design, courtesy of the FCC.

Noise-cancelling technology has become more accessible over the past few years thanks to decent budget options like Tribit's QuietPlus 72. Anker makes solid headphones as well, and the company's latest sale is tough to beat. From now until tomorrow, you can pick up a pair of Anker Life 2 headphones with active noise-cancellation from Newegg for just $35.99 — a 45% discount.

Holding Boise Cancelling Headphones 700 in hand

Hey there! The dust hasn't even settled from the deals roundup we brought to you earlier this week, and we've already pulled together a fresh batch of goods that are ripe for the taking. Today, we're featuring discounts on Bose headphones, Amazon Echo Dot 3rd gen, additional Pixel 4 offers, and more. Check it out!

Active noise-cancelling headphones used to be prohibitively expensive, but in recent years, they've entered more affordable realms. The Jabra Elite 85h in particular has turned out to be the most economical set of these in the over-the-ear headphones market and has been available for $200 over the last few weeks. If that was still above your budget, you might be more comfortable with the new all-time low of $157 on Amazon, which is $143 off the MSRP.The Jabra Elite 85h can be used both wired and wirelessly thanks to a 3.5mm port and Bluetooth. A built-in microphone allows you to make phone calls with it, and the water resistance will give you peace of mind when you wear the headphones out in the rain. In our review, David Ruddock calls the 85h "winners," and says they often have superior noise-cancelling capabilities than their more expensive counterparts from Bose and Sony.

These days, you have a plethora of options to choose from when you're interested in noise-cancelling headphones. Other than Sony and Bose products, the Jabra Elite 85h are one of the better models in this market, and they're currently $100 cheaper than usual at multiple resellers, going for $200 instead of $300.In his review, our own David Ruddock felt the Jabra Elite 85h's audio quality and noise-cancellation capabilities were even better than similar offers from Bose while providing a much longer battery life of 36 hours. The headphones also come with a one-tap shortcut for Google Assistant and Alexa, though they don't integrate more tightly than that and won't read your notifications. In addition to Bluetooth and AUX connectivity, a USB-C port is on board, helping you reduce the number of cables you have to lug around.

Black Friday is still a few weeks away, but that's not stopping companies from starting their deals early on, very early on. We're not complaining, though, as competition means we get to see some fantastic discounts such as today's deal on the Sony WH1000XM3 over-ear headphones: they're down to 8 on Amazon, a full $122 off.Sony's cans are amongst the best over-ear noise cancelling headphones on the market right now. Great tunable sound, efficient noise cancellation, comfort, 30 hours of battery life plus USB-C charging, Google Assistant integration, and a sleek design made our own Richard love them and recommend them when he reviewed them. What he didn't like were the touch controls and the high $350 price, the latter of which is easily mitigated by this 35% discount.
