The BlackBerry Priv is rapidly dropping in price. Not officially, mind you. But if you have the patience and the willingness to hunt around for a good deal, the Priv is one high-end Android phone to keep and eye out for.
Last week we saw the phone on sale for $449.99. That was a remarkable deal, considering the phone's $650 MSRP. But today the phone is available for even less. Read More
The Android Wear device that is most likely to eat one of my future paychecks is the Huawei Watch. It's beautiful, in my eyes at least, and it's the most traditional looking Android Wear watch yet. The problem is the thing is so dang expensive. The mesh band model (my personal favorite) still retails for $400 bucks at Amazon and Google.
The good news is that Newegg has it on sale for less right now, quite a bit less in fact at $300. The model on sale is the one with a stainless body with the black leather strap, but Newegg is also throwing in the classier (and more expensive) silver mesh band for free. Read More
If you're looking for a mid-range smartphone with the stock Android experience, you can't do much better than the LG Nexus 5X. It packs a zippy hexa-core Snapdragon 808 processor clocked at 1.4GHZ, 2GB of RAM, a sharp 12.3MP rear camera with dual LED flash and laser autofocus, and a vivid 5.2” display. Since it's a recent Nexus phone, you can guarantee it's running an untainted version of Android 6.0 Marshmallow. Read More
The Honor 5X is already a pretty fantastic deal at $200 for an unlocked phone (even if David's review was more or less "you get what you pay for"). But if you're looking to sweeten the deal even further, online retailer Newegg is offering an additional $25 via a store gift card with the purchase of the phone. The offer is available for a limited time, but it's valid on all three colors (black, white, gold) and combines with free shipping.
The gift card is added to your cart at the same time as the phone, and users can use the code themselves or give it away (if you have a friend who likes to build PCs, it would make a nice gift). Read More
Huawei's latest attempt to break into the US market comes by way of the Honor smartphone brand, specifically the Honor 5X. David thought it was pretty good for $200, and now you're mere days away from coming to your own conclusion. The Honor 5X goes on sale January 31st (Sunday) for $200. Read More
With winter approaching and the possibility of getting snowed in, there's a certain comfort that comes from knowing your phone can stay active throughout a week-long power outage. Being able to place calls and derp around online (assuming the towers are still active) is like a super power.
But you aren't born with that innate gift. First you have to buy an external battery pack to replenish your phone's reserves when that icon in the corner goes empty, and preferably a big one. Read More
Like you, I love external battery packs. I especially like ones that don't require you to plug them into the wall. Okay, ZeroLemon's SolarJuice backup chargers aren't quite there yet—you could easily spend a weekend getting enough power from the sun to recharge your phone once. But boy, there's something about having the option that sure feels awesome. And I live in a part of the country that's not unfamiliar with losing electricity for days due to hurricanes, so there's that. Read More
The Asus ZenFone 2 is one of the better phones to arrive this year for under $300, delivering 4GB of RAM before the competition. But it had an Intel processor. Folks looking for a more standard Qualcomm processor can look to the ZenFone 2 Lazer. Read More
The UE MEGABOOM speaker doesn't just go boom. It goes megaboom. That explosion you hear is the sound of a cylindrical Bluetooth speaker pumping music in all directions. It's not on your desk yet, but you can hear it already, and right now you can make it happen for $50 less than usual. Read More
Who knows what Google has planned for the Nexus Player, but if you want to get your hands on the company's media streaming hockey puck, doing so is becoming easily affordable. Read More
