This Year's Motorola Flagship Is The Moto X Style—5.7" Quad-HD Display, 3GB Of RAM, 21MP Camera, Pure Edition Support For All Major US Carriers, $399.99

You won't have to fumble around with remembering the year with the newest Moto X. Or should I say, Moto Xs. This time the company is introducing multiple versions, and each has a name that sets it apart from the crowd. One Moto X has style. Moto X Style.

The Moto X Style is an updated version of the 2014 Moto X, the device we expected from Motorola. The screen makes a predictable jump up to a 5.7-inch quad-HD display. It also makes the leap to a less predictable 21MP camera on the back of the device. A 5MP one resides on the front.

While the display has grown to a potentially controversial 5.2", much of what made the original so loved is intact. Front-facing speakers bring a feature much demanded by enthusiasts, along with a bump to a full 1080p AMOLED display (likely Samsung-supplied). New back options like leather up the customization potential for the X even more, and enhancements to Active Display and Motorola Assist continue to build up Motorola's much-loved software additions.

Just yesterday we saw Motorola flip the on-switch for Moto Maker for the new Moto X here in the US. Customers can head over to the site right away to design a phone that suits their tastes and purchase the unlocked model directly. Moto Maker for the new flagship has gone live across the pond, even though the phone is not yet available for purchase everywhere just yet.

Instead of buying a product, customers in the UK will get the design sent to their email address where they will be able to pull it back up when the time to order comes, hopefully in a matter of days.

The new Moto X isn't available for purchase from Motorola's just yet, but the company is holding a promotion that will let anyone with a valid .edu email address get $50 off the regular price once it does go on sale. This applies for students, teachers, and alumni alike, similar to the last time Motorola offered up this discount for the previous model. Note, only one promotional code will work per email address, and there's a chance it won't go through if you jumped on this offer for the previous model.
