The minor changes give the new logo a dull look

Google made some slight adjustments to the Play Store logo five years ago, leaving behind that classic shopping bag symbol enclosing its multi-colored play button design. This became the defining image associated with Google Play, and seemingly, we're due for another shift. It seems a minor change is coming to the Play Store, having been spotted when users make Google Pay transactions. Now, additional information has all but confirmed that Google will likely implement the logo changes across the Play Store.

Google's been rolling out updated logos and icons for many of its services in the last month or so, and Google Voice just started picking up its own awaited change. The new icon is starting to roll out on the desktop site, though it doesn't appear to be live for everyone just yet.

Google started testing a Material Design makeover for the desktop YouTube site over a year ago. The design went into open beta a few months ago, and now Google is finally flipping the switch for everyone. Also, YouTube has a new logo.

Asterisks are serious business. It appears that LastPass was hit with a trademark lawsuit about its logo last year (personal theory: maybe from Asterisk.org?), forcing it to change its brand's identity. The asterisk had to go so the company looked at the visual interface of password fields and saw that dots were now the norm for hiding passwords, not asterisks.

It's new logo day at Google, and that means your favorite apps are getting a few icon tweaks. Several of Google's apps had the little 'g' somewhere, but that's no longer part of the logo. Now it's all about the big G, and Google is already updating icons on the web to reflect that.
