If you still use a first-gen Nest Cam Indoor, you already know you need to download the Nest app to fully manage it remotely, given the lack of capabilities within the Google Home app. Despite being a part of the company’s smart home product line, Google has not completely integrated the original model of the Nest Cam Indoor into the app. Although it debuted in 2015, it's still officially supported unlike older Dropcam models, and Google is finally making a move. Starting today, those who join the Public Preview of the Google Home app can transfer over their first-gen Nest Cam Indoor from the Nest app.

Google released a few new Nest cameras this year. By and large, we haven't been very impressed with them: they're pricey, they all but require a monthly or yearly service subscription, and the Google Home app you have to use to manage them is clumsy at best. There are too many good smart security cameras out there to overpay for a flawed experience, after all.

When Google announced its new lineup of Nest cameras this summer, availability varied. The new battery-powered Nest Cam outdoor camera and Nest Doorbell (battery) were both available quickly, but the smart floodlight camera and indoor Nest cam were both merely teased for the future. Google didn't give us precise dates at the time, but they're both available for purchase now.

If you've been online today, you've most probably noticed the avalanche of Prime Day deals. Although these include a lot of tech products, there are no Nest products in there. Thankfully, these products are also marked down and available from a bunch of online and physical retailers.

One of the most interesting things you can do with a smart display is to pair it with a doorbell that streams and records video, making it easier to identify visitors before you get to the door. If you have neither of those devices, Google is currently offering a bundle deal for its new Home Hub plus a Nest Hello doorbell that reduces the smart display to $99 from $150, bringing the total for the two devices to $328. Both the Google Store and Best Buy are also offering the discount when customers pair the Home Hub with a variety of other Nest and Google products, including the third generation Nest Learning Thermostat. Below is the full list of Nest products available in Best Buy bundles:
