Samsung Good Lock updates add new Task Changer style and NavStar rotation toggle [APK Download]

With One UI, the current state of Samsung's Android software is a far cry from the dark days of TouchWiz. The Good Lock suite of apps also makes Samsung's skin one of the most customizable around, and another round of updates is rolling out. LG V20 promotional video shows filled-in white nav bar buttons on Nougat

A few weeks ago, we reported that Android's navbar may be getting solid keys rather than the hollow versions found on Marshmallow and below. Nougat is here now and there are no white buttons, but we're still waiting for the new Nexus phones, plus a maintenance release slated to be Android 7.1. LG, though, seems to think the solid look is the way forward.

The video in the tweet above features some of Nougat's new features, such as quick reply, quick switching, and splitscreen multitasking.

Exclusive: Google may be redesigning Android's home and navigation buttons (again)

What you're looking at above could well be the appearance of the navigation bar in Android N on Google's next Nexus phones, Marlin and Sailfish, when they launch - and possibly all devices using the stock navbar in Android N. According to a reliable source, Google's newest Nexuses may be getting a navbar do-over, but it remains unclear at this time if the new design we're seeing here will be available to all devices running N or only Google's in-house Nexus brand. A closer look follows.

Android 6.0.1 Factory Images Now Available, Many New Emoji And December Security Patch In Tow

Android 6.0.1 factory images are now available for the Nexus 5, 5X, 6, 6P, 7 (and 7 w/ mobile data), 9 (and 9 LTE), and Player - you can find them here. Included in the new update are many, many emoji characters, and there's a good breakdown on just which ones are new over at Ars Technica.

Allegedly, there is also a new navbar layout for tablets, and though we've not independently verified it's on the Nexus 7 (update: the nav buttons on the Nexus 7 are unchanged) or Nexus 9 ourselves, you can see this screenshot of it, also from the Ars article, below.
