The day that many ROM enthusiasts have been dreading has arrived: the CyanogenMod Team has announced the end of life support for the original Nexus One, along with other first-generation Snapdragon devices, including the HTC EVO 4G, [Droid] Incredible and Desire and others. None of these devices have official builds of CyanogenMod 9 (though plenty of independent ROM developers have done their best) and they won't be getting any CM updates beyond the 7.X Read More
There's no doubt about it - we've come a long, long way since the HTC Dream (whose relatives include the G1, myTouch 3G, and DoCoMo HT-03A) was released. Since that fateful October day, we've seen all kinds of crazy Android-powered gear, from snow goggles to handsets sporting more raw horsepower than a netbook. We've also been treated to heaps of community-created mods, including custom ROMs like CyanogenMod and MIUI as well as mind-blowing hacks of other sorts, such as 1.5GHz overclocks and apps that essentially manage your phone for you. Well, this is interesting: TmoNews is claiming that the myTouch 3G will receive an update to Android 2.2 (Froyo) starting tomorrow. If true, the rollout will be staggered - beginning tomorrow and running until October 25. An important note, though: they provide absolutely no details on how they found this out, and the only image they use dates back to June when we heard the same damn thing.
TmoNews has a pretty decent record as update leaks go, but without any details, it's hard to know whether or not this is one to back. Read More

Looking for an easy way to root your Android Device? Universal Androot may just be what the doctor ordered. The one-click root fad seems to be catching on and Universal Androot is an app that covers multiple Android devices, making it easier for those who may be reluctant experience the mighty wonders of root.
Universal Androot is the simplest root/unroot method I have seen to date and probably the safest - it has been confirmed as working by multiple users (apparently it uses the same exploit used to 1-click root the Motorola Droid X). Read More
This doesn’t need much explaining. If you start a new T-Mobile 2 year contract or upgrade and extend your current service contract, you can get the MyTouch 3G for nothing, nada, zilch. Got a frugal friend or family member looking for a cheap smartphone? Look no further. Just check out T-Mobile’s online store page.
Good news for users of the T-Mobile MyTouch 3G: It seems you will be receiving some Froyo love after all!
Nothing is 100% official at the moment, but the T-Mobile fanatics over at TmoNews have a pretty convincing screenshot that supposedly details the upcoming upgrade for the MyTouch 3G.
In addition to the upgrade to 2.2, T-Mobile is apparently planning on throwing in the modified ‘Faves Gallery’, and ‘Genius Button’ applications as well. Read More
If you have not heard yet, Cyanogen and gang have finally released CyanogenMod 5 for your G1/Mytouch 3G. If you are new to using ROMs, make sure to follow the instructions carefully, so you don't brick your phone. Anyone who has used ROMs, whether Cyanogen’s or not, also needs to follow the instructions as you will need to install DangerSPL which has bricking potential (unless you already have it installed). Early Android adopters will soon be able to use Android 2.1 on the G1 and MyTouch 3G thanks to Cyanogen, with the release of CyanogenMod 5.0.7.
The latest version of the ROM should be available to users in no time at all, with a public beta arriving at some point today according to Cyanogen’s tweet:
Some compromises may need to be made to allow Android 2.1 to fit on the G1 and MyTouch 3G due to limited available space on the devices - in fact, this is what is causing the delay before the release is live. Read More

of another flavor of Android called Espresso.
Espresso is an interface built on top of HTC's flagship Sense UI and is expected to make its first appearance in the wild on the upcoming T-Mobile myTouch Slide. We covered the phone and the UI when both of them leaked online.
