Motorola has quietly dropped the Moto Z2 Force price from $800 to $720 [Update]

Motorola announced the Moto Z2 Force recently with a price of $800, a full $80 more than the first generation device. That seemed especially bold when Motorola is still pushing Mods that can cost as much as $300. Now, the company appears to have dropped the price without so much as a word. The phone is currently listed on the Motorola website at $720, the same as last year's phone.

The Moto Z2 Force's 'unbreakable' screen may be a deal breaker

Motorola is set to launch the Moto Z2 Force in a few weeks on all major US carriers. Those carriers are doing their part to make the launch a success with various promos, but you ought to look upon these deals with skepticism. Our full Moto Z2 Force review will be ready in a few days, but I thought it would be prudent to expand on something I touched on in the hands-on: the ShatterShield display. I'm afraid this screen will be a deal breaker for many people. While it doesn't crack, there are plenty of other issues with it.

[Deal Alert] T-Mobile is offering 'buy one, get one' deals on the Galaxy S8 and the Moto Z2 Force

T-Mobile fired up a buy one, get one (BOGO) deal on the Galaxy S8 shortly after it launched. While there were caveats, it was a good value. Now, that deal is back, and the upcoming Moto Z2 Force getting the same BOGO offer. You probably want the GS8, though.

Opinion: Motorola's Z phones are quickly becoming little more than Mod money grabs

Motorola announced the Z2 Force at an event in New York City yesterday, ostensibly the 2017 flagship for the struggling smartphone brand, following up the Z and Z Force of 2016. The Z series is notable both for marking a major transition in Moto's flagship strategy, but also for the Moto Mods that underpinned the alleged reasoning behind that shift.

Motorola loves to toss out figures about the adoption rate for Moto Mods, but it hasn't issued any really solid ones in regard to which Mods people are using or how often they're using them. The reality is that this is probably because the battery Mod - the most painfully, glaringly, obvious use case for Mods - makes up the great bulk of that uptake.

Hands-on: Moto Z2 Force and 360 Camera Moto Mod

Motorola is now into its second generation of Mod-enabled phones with the release of the Moto Z2 Play a few weeks ago and now the Moto Z2 Force. As far as we know, there won't be a regular Z2 variant this year, so Moto seems to have split the difference between the last-gen Z and Z Force. The Z2 Force is a bit slimmer than its predecessor with a smaller battery, but it still has the shatter-proof POLED display.

We'll have a full review later, but let's see if this phone makes a good first impression. There's also that new 360 Camera Mod launching on the same day.

Motorola announces Moto Z2 Force and 360 Camera Mod

The Z2 series was kicked off last month with the Moto Z2 Play, and now the step-up version is official. The often leaked Moto Z2 Force is coming on August 10th, and you can preorder it now. Unlike last time, you'll be able to get this phone on any carrier—AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, U.S. Cellular, and Verizon. There will also be an unlocked version. The pricing is really getting up there, though. You're looking at $799.99 for the phone, and then there are mods. Motorola is also announcing a new 360-degree camera Moto Mod, and that one will set you back $300.

The Moto Z2 Force will reportedly be thinner with a much smaller battery than last year

We're just a few days from Motorola's (likely) unveiling of the Moto Z2 Force, and Venture Beat has some details on the device. According to VB's Evan Blass, Motorola is taking a similar approach to the Z2 Force as it did with the Z2 Play that came out a few weeks ago—it'll be thinner with a reduced battery capacity compared to last year's phone.

Motorola announces #hellomotoworld event for July 25th

Motorola has been a very leaky ship lately with photos and renders of upcoming phones popping up online. At least some secrets will be revealed in just a few weeks on July 25th at the #hellomotoworld event in New York City. Yeah, Motorola loves hashtags.

Moto Z2 Force will likely come to AT&T, according to a leak

If Motorola was a boat, it would already be at the bottom of the ocean with all these leaks. If you're not familiar with the company's current lineup, the existing Moto Z Force is a more durable version of the Z with a "Shattershield" screen (from the DROID Turbo 2). We already know what the Z2 Force will look like, but now it seems like it will come to AT&T.

As you may know, the existing Z Force is a Verizon exclusive in the United States, carrying the 'Moto Z2 Force Droid' name.

The Moto Z2 Force likely won't be a Verizon exclusive

Over the past few years, Motorola has produced several phones exclusive to Verizon. This includes the Z Force Droid, Moto Z Droid, Moto Z Play Droid, Droid Turbo 2, and more. But according to a recent tweet from Evan Blass, the next Moto Z Force may be sold outside of Big Red.
