Samsung Continues to Tease Mobile World Congress Unpacked Event With The World's Most Vague Quote

Mobile World Congress starts in just under two weeks. As with most of the big mobile shows, Samsung will be doing its own thing with an Unpacked event, which the company already announced last week. For some reason Samsung has decided to issue a second announcement, this time with a tiny bit more information. And lots of fives.

Then again, maybe popcorn won't be necessary. According to Pocket-Lint, Motorola will have no major announcements to make at the event, which probably means no new mobile hardware at Mobile World Congress.

It feels like we just got done with CES, but Mobile World Congress is looming heavy on the horizon. As usual, Samsung will be there with bells on, but it will shun the show floor in favor of a dedicated Unpacked event. The first Unpacked venue of the year has been set for Monday, February 24th, according to Samsung Tomorrow. It will start at 8:00 PM local time (2:00 PM Eastern), putting it right at the end of the show's first day.

LG Korea Confirms G Pro 2 Will Be Announced Next Month, Probably At Mobile World Congress

LG used to be a second rate Android OEM, but the last few years have been good to the Korean company. After making the Nexus 4 and Nexus 5 for Google, its own "G" line of flagship phones have been more successful. Everyone has been wondering if the successor to last year's LG Optimus G Pro would be coming soon, and LG Korea just spilled the beans on its social news site – the G Pro 2 will indeed be unveiled next month.

[MWC 2013] ASUS Announces The 1080p, Snapdragon 600 Padfone Infinity And 7" Fonepad

At an afternoon press conference across the street from MWC 2013's enormous venue, ASUS has just wrapped a (hilarious) press conference that saw the introduction of two new devices (or three?) – the Padfone Infinity and the Fonepad. Before we dive in for hands-on, let's take a quick look at the specs and pricing for the devices.

[MWC 2013] Samsung Makes The Galaxy Note 8.0 Official Before MWC: Coming In The Second Quarter, No Price Available

We've seen it leaked a few times, but Samsung has beaten the Mobile World Congress rush and officially unveiled the Galaxy Note 8.0. The device is basically a super-sized version of the Note 2 smartphone, right down to the physical home button (a first for Samsung's post-Android 3.0 tablets), call capability, and vertical orientation.

The screen is an 8-inch 1280x800 panel, and it's unfortunately a TFT LCD - I had been hoping that they would make it Super AMOLED, and create a spiritual successor to the sadly underutilized Galaxy Tab 7.7.

Huawei Ascend P2 Press Shot Leaks Ahead Of Mobile World Congress

This is the time of year when we expect two things to surface in droves: leaks and rumors. With CES fading in our taillights and Mobile World Congress just around the corner, it's an interesting time for device manufacturers. And while some have already gotten their early-year announcements over with, there are those who have chosen to wait for Barcelona to unveil their newest flagships to the world.

Take Huawei, for example.

We're in Barcelona this afternoon (or, in the US, this morning), and Huawei has just taken the wraps off its latest and greatest smartphone - the Ascend D Quad. It's almost as thought the name is suggesting something about the phone's hardware.

Powering the device is Huawei's first in-house smartphone processor - the K3V2. It has four cores, clocked at 1.5GHz. It's really fast. That's about all we know at this point.

ASUS Continues To Tease Its Mobile World Congress Announcements, Here's What We Know So Far

Like other companies, ASUS hasn't been shying away from teasing what it has in store for Mobile World Congress. While we can't say for sure what the Taiwanese company has up its sleeve, we can make some pretty good guesses based on the pair of teasers to hit its YouTube account thus far.

So, what do we have here? A matryoshka doll taken apart with the words "Divided we stand," then put together with the text "together we rock" across the screen.
