Android Marshmallow 6.0.1 OTA Rolls Out To More Android One Devices

Android One users are a lucky bunch. They usually buy their devices for very affordable prices and still get timely updates like Nexus phones. Android 6.0.1 isn't an exception to the rule, as Micromax A1 users are starting to see OTA update notifications pop up on their screens.

This isn't the first instance of 6.0.1 on Android One though. About 2 weeks ago, Philippines' Cherry Mobile G1 got the update over the air, and now the Micromax A1 is following suite. Nexus devices saw their factory images released yesterday, and One devices should expect the same features this little update brought: "Until next alarm" in the Do Not Disturb mode and most importantly plenty of new emojis.

Yesterday saw the release of Android 6.0's factory images and OTA updates for the Nexus family. One other group of devices that are supposed to get the update just as quickly (and way before all the OEM smartphones) is Android One phones. Lollipop Update Starts Rolling Out To Android One Devices In India In A Gradual Weekly Process

Good news, Android One users in India! Whether you bought a Karbonn Sparkle V, Micromax Canvas A1, or Spice Dream UNO, you have probably felt a little bit abandoned when Lollipop was released and your device was left running Android 4.4.4, while new phones launching in Indonesia and the Philippines have been donned not only with Lollipop, but with Android 5.1!

Following the earlier promise from Google India that Lollipop is only a few weeks away, Caesar Sengupta, Product Management Director at Google, has announced that One phones in India should have already started getting the Lollipop treat. It's a gradual rollout on a weekly basis, so only some selected random devices will get the OTA update notification.
