Back in December, we released a Chrome extension called 'Toolbox for Google Play Store.' It was designed to make the Play Store website much better, with direct links to APKMirror/AP/AppBrain for each app and the ability to sign up for beta programs with one click. A few months later, we released it for Opera, and later Firefox.
But all that time, there wasn't much in the way of new features or major improvements. Today, I'm excited to announce that version 2.0 of Toolbox for Play Store is rolling out to Chrome and Firefox users (Opera should get it in a day or two).

As you may have noticed, we have been running Google Funding Choices for the past month or so on Android Police. Today, I'm announcing that we're pulling support for it. Funding Choices is riddled with issues, and we get feedback about buggy or just plain awful behavior - like the whole site being blocked - every single day.
Funding Choices and Contributor 2.0 are easily the most beta products I've ever tested from Google, and are not ready for prime time. Even after launch, navigation on the backend dashboard site was not working properly, stats weren't updating, and are to this day a hacky collection of Google Sheets documents.

Back in December, we announced Toolbox for Google Play Store, a Chrome extension designed to improve the Play Store desktop site. It adds integration with several sites (including Android Police, Appbrain, and APKMirror), easy access to join/leave an app's beta program, and even fixing the '&' symbol not being displayed correctly in your device list. All of these features can be turned on or off individually.

As you might have noticed, the AP team is pretty fond of Pushbullet. It's an awesome service that keeps your devices linked up and in sync like nothing else. If you've paid attention over the past few weeks, you may have also noticed that our sidebar has gained a pretty big heap of new buttons.
Right under all the other ways you can follow AP, we've added a stack of Pushbullet subscription options that will allow you to subscribe to our posts either all at once, or per category. You can probably see the buttons right next to this post, but just in case, here's a screenshot.

Over the past month or two, you may have noticed a change in our "APK Download" posts. Previously, we went through an admittedly tedious process of first hunting down the APK we wanted, and then uploading it to a selection of various mirroring services, each with their own interfaces, ad concerns, and other quirks. In fact we have switched mirroring services several times because of intrusive advertising or other issues our readers faced.
In an effort to make things easy, and maybe even fun, we created APK Mirror. Over the past several months, we've been working to build a smooth, reliable, trust-worthy site to host the downloads users love and keep the whole experience in the AP family.
