LEGO Star Wars Battles FTP strategy game coming to Android in 2020

The latest Star Wars movie should arrive in theaters at the tail end of 2019, and so it makes sense that Warner Bros, LEGO, and Lucasfilm would want to capitalize on the film with a new mobile strategy game slated to arrive on the Play Store sometime in 2020. This title is called LEGO Star Wars Battles, and it's specifically designed for mobile devices to blend LEGO Star Wars characters, vehicles, and locations with real-time 1v1 multiplayer battles.

Angry Birds Star Wars Review: Revenge Of A New Hope Returns Again

Guys did you hear the big news? Leia is a Disney Princess Now! Rovio came out with a Star Wars version of Angry Birds! It's got lasers, wookiees, light sabers, and a bunch of other stuff that you remember from those movies you saw growing up that don't seem to bear much resemblance to the newer movies your kids watched. I can feel the conflict within you, though: is this going to be terrible, a bastardization of all my beloved characters, or can I set aside my disdain for everything Lucas and Rovio have done, relax, and enjoy this game?

First Gameplay Video Of Angry Birds Star Wars Is Released, Fans Cry Out In Terror And Are Suddenly Silenced

You knew it was coming. It is unavoidable. It is your destiny. Angry Birds is journeying to a galaxy far, far away. Today, a gameplay trailer was released that, in addition to revealing a pink Princess Leia bird (excuse me while I check off number 7 on my list of "Phrases I Never Thought I'd Have To Write"), shows our avian heroes wielding light sabers and shooting lasers out of their eyes to bring down AT-AT walkers. Which is ridiculous. Everyone knows that armor's too strong for blasters.

There's not much to see in the video beyond a couple of shots, but if you were wondering just what a Star Wars version of Angry Birds would look like, well, it's pretty much exactly what you would expect.
