Huawei launches Mate 30 and Mate 30 Pro without Google apps, first integrated 5G SoC, 40MP cameras

Today, Huawei announced the Mate 30 Pro and the Mate 30 during its keynote in Munich, Germany. The phones haven't leaked as badly as the Pixel 4, but we've known quite a bit about them before the launch. The Mate 30 series focuses on photography and comes with the Kirin 990 chip, the first SoC with an integrated 5G modem. They're also the first Huawei devices that have to launch without Google apps, which might make it harder to sell them outside of China.

Xiaomi Mi 8 update includes night mode and 960fps slo-mo video recording

In my review of the Xiaomi Mi 8 and Mi 8 Pro, I was surprised by quite how good the dual rear cameras were. Both phones have the same sensors, offering imaging performance at least on a par with recent OnePlus devices while challenging much more expensive competitors. Thanks to a new update, two more features are being added to the Mi 8's camera capabilities.
