Spyjinx is an upcoming espionage game from Epic and Bad Robot

Spyjinx is an upcoming espionage game from Epic and Bad Robot

Epic Games has teamed up with the gaming division of Bad Robot (a studio created in partnership with Tencent) to create a mobile game set in a secret world of espionage called Spyjinx. The title was originally announced back in 2015 (yes, you read that right), and was supposed to enter into a beta in 2016. Clearly, that never happened (even the social media for this game went silent for four years), though it would appear the two studios haven't abandoned the game since Epic recently published an overview of the title while announcing a beta test for iOS.

Black Desert Mobile is the latest MMORPG to land on Android, and it's actually pretty good

Black Desert Mobile is the latest MMORPG to land on Android, and it's actually pretty good

Today signals the official release of the English version of Black Desert Mobile in the West, just as promised. We've known for a while now that the mobile MMORPG would arrive sometime this year, though it was only last month that the developer Pearl Abyss revealed the game would officially arrive today. Now that it's here, I'm pleased to say the game is very enjoyable, though there is no denying that the monetization isn't the best. Still, Black Desert Mobile is easily the most satisfying MMO on the Play Store to date thanks to its excellent customization, superb graphics, and a quality control scheme where players can choose between manual controls or auto-play on the fly.

(Update: Game cancelled) Rush Wars is Supercell's next combat strategy game, beta now available in Canada, Australia, and New Zealand

(Update: Game cancelled) Rush Wars is Supercell's next combat strategy game, beta now available in Canada, Australia, and New Zealand

Supercel started to hint at its next combat strategy game last Friday with a teaser tweet from an account named "Rush Wars" that contained the number "26" and the word "beta." As of this morning, we now know that this title is currently available as a beta release on the Google Play Store in Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. From the looks of it, this is a game that combines many of the mechanics found in earlier Supercell releases, so if you're a fan of the studio's previous work, it appears that Rush Wars doesn't stray too far from what's made the developer so famous.

Pokémon Masters has landed on Android, filled with loot boxes and IAPs

Pokémon Masters has landed on Android, filled with loot boxes and IAPs

Pokémon Masters has arrived, and while the release was slightly unexpected, the date falls in line with the previously announced summer-release window. Of course, this isn't a mainline Pokémon game, since it comes from DeNA, the same company behind Nintendo's Fire Emblem Heroes and Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp. As expected, Pokémon Masters is a free-to-play release packed with in-app purchases and loot boxes, and this time around, instead of collecting adorable creatures, you'll spend your time collecting trainers to play through 3v3 battles, similar in style to the many MARVEL Strike Force clones already available on the Play Store.

[Update: Filed with bipartisan support] Politicians finally realize loot boxes are thinly veiled gambling, introduce bill to combat

[Update: Filed with bipartisan support] Politicians finally realize loot boxes are thinly veiled gambling, introduce bill to combat

U.S. senator Josh Hawley has announced the outline for a bill that could apply new consumer protections to video games played by minors. Specifically, it targets games played by those younger than eighteen years of age and aims to prohibit several forms of abusive monetization practices, such as loot boxes and pay-to-win elements. The goal is to have the Federal Trade Commission enforce the bill's proposed rules by treating the distribution of any offending games as unfair trade practices.

Mario Kart Tour closed beta is live, and it's already a disappointment

Mario Kart Tour closed beta is live, and it's already a disappointment

Last month we learned that Nintendo would offer a closed beta test of Mario Kart Tour to select users that applied for access. Well, it looks like I got in, so now that I've had some time to play the beta I figured I'd share my impressions for those that are curious how its development is shaping up.

Nintendo to pull Fire Emblem and Animal Crossing mobile games from Belgian market over loot boxes

Nintendo to pull Fire Emblem and Animal Crossing mobile games from Belgian market over loot boxes

Nintendo's Belgium arm tweeted an announced early this morning that the company will be pulling its mobile games Fire Emblem Heroes and Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp from the Belgian market on August 27th. Back in April of 2018, Belgium declared that loot boxes are gambling and thus illegal in the country, so it would seem Nintendo has seen the writing on the wall and decided to pull any offending games.

[Hands-on] Disney Heroes: Battle Mode, a boring auto-brawler with a kid-friendly theme

[Hands-on] Disney Heroes: Battle Mode, a boring auto-brawler with a kid-friendly theme

PerBlue Entertainment's Disney Heroes: Battle Mode is an upcoming free-to-play hero collection auto-brawler that takes advantage of both Disney and Pixar licenses for its theme. I have been able to get my hands on a working pre-release version, so I figured why not give some insight on what this game has to offer before it officially releases so that our readers will have a good idea what to expect. So without further ado, here are my thoughts on the beta of Disney Heroes: Battle Mode.
