Android 12's release candidate gets more Live Space features up and running

Except the widget's seemingly broken for most beta users

We're just weeks away from a stable build of Android 12 hitting smartphones, which means all of the final additions are falling into place. One of the tools we've been excited to try out for ourselves is Live Space, replacing the old At A Glance widget on Pixels. We finally have a new look at the feature, but we'll have to keep waiting for a future update to experiment with everything it'll offer.

As we work through our mile-long Android 12 to-do list, we have another curious detail to share. Partially aligning with prior rumors that Google would be replacing the much-loved At A Glance widget bundled into the Google app and the launcher on the company's Pixels, the latest beta release shows that it's been adjusted. Things haven't changed very much visually, but Android 12 Beta 3 debuts the new-in-name Live Space widget, replacing At A Glance.

Android 12 is chock full of changes big and small, from a major visual overhaul with Material You to new privacy tools to help keep user data safe. As Google continues to push its phone lineup forward, some of those changes are exclusive to Pixel devices. The At A Glance widget will be a familiar sight to anyone with a Pixel phone, but it could be due for a rebrand — and an evolution — as part of Android 12.
