LG V30S ThinQ is now shipping in the US

LG announced the V30S ThinQ—more or less a V30 with extra RAM—at Mobile World Congress in February. The phone went up for pre-order a couple of weeks ago for the plainly silly price of $929.99, but promptly dropped to a more reasonable $729.99. It's now in stock at B&H at that price.

B&H lowers LG V30S ThinQ pre-order price to $729.99 ($200 off)

The LG V30S ThinQ was announced at Mobile World Congress in February, and is essentially a V30 with extra software features and more storage/RAM. Pre-orders for the phone went live in the United States a few days ago, at a price tag of $929.99. That's a lot of money for any phone, let alone one using a chipset from last year.

LG confirms the G7 ThinQ will be announced on May 2nd, 2018

The last 3 or 4 years in LG's history have been nothing but baffling to me. I have difficulty understanding how the company that caught my heart with its G2 and G3 smartphones fell so badly in the me-too camp, trying to emulate what has worked for others (mostly Samsung) and hoping that would be a recipe for success. The latest ThinQ brand and push is one more symptom of the same ailment: LG saw that AI was everywhere and wanted to get it on the game. Forget about useful AI, it's another "we have smart things for the sake of smart things" gimmick. Sigh.
