Out with the old, in with the new: LineageOS cut support for Android 9 Pie earlier this year, and to make up for the loss, the open-source project has just released version 18.1 based on Android 11. It comes with official support for about 60 phones and tablets.

The LG V20, the company's last flagship with a removable battery, is three years old now, but the Korean manufacturer hasn't forgotten about it. LG V20s in Korea are currently being updated to Android Pie, with US carrier units hopefully following along shortly, if the past is any indication. LG also announced that its spring flagship phone, the G8 ThinQ, will be updated to Android 10 in the fourth quarter.

Slowly but surely, LG is upgrading each variant of the V20 to Android 8.0 Oreo. All of the US carrier versions have already received the update, including the models for AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, and Sprint. Now Oreo is rolling out to the international unlocked (H990DS) and Hong Kong (H990N) variants.

Lagging behind the other carrier versions (by months, in some cases), T-Mobile is finally pushing out the Android 8.0 Oreo update for the LG V20. Better late than never, I guess?

The LG V20 is nearly two years old now, but the Korean company hasn't forgotten about it. After the G6, it was next in line to get its Oreo update, and true to form, the Sprint version received its OTA at the end of July. Now, it's the AT&T variant's turn to get its own taste of Oreo.

You'll be able to pick up an LG V30 later this month, but it's guaranteed to cost a whole lot more than the V20 that's on sale at Walmart right now. This phone is unlocked and discounted to $302.52, which is the lowest we've seen for this model.

The LG V30 may have been announced, but it still isn't for sale in the US. Until then, last year's V20 reigns as the newest LG V-series phone you can purchase stateside. And now, you can get an AT&T/unlocked model for just $329.99 on NeweggFlash through seller Breed.

T-Mobile is no stranger to "buy one, get one" promotions. In fact, the Bellevue-based company has even run one that included the LG G6 and V20 before. This latest one, then, will probably be pretty familiar to those of you who've seen a T-Mobile BOGO in action before.

The LG V10 and V20 are experimental devices, much like the Galaxy Note lineup was for Samsung in years past. They included unique features and abilities, most notably the top 'ticker' display, that may have seemed out of place on the company's main 'G' series. The V20 was a pretty good phone when it was released last year, but now that it's approaching one year old, we're starting to see it go on sale more and more.

The LineageOS project has continued to add support for more and more devices, while also adding a few improvements to the ROM itself. It's been a little while since our last status update, so it's time we took another look at how Lineage is doing.

Since our last LineageOS post, the project has continued to add new features and support new devices. In addition to new Quick Settings tiles and changes to included apps, the ROM now supports 16 additional devices.

Don't skip this article T-Mobile subscribers, this is one of the best deals I have come across for quite some time. T-Mobile has discounted the very capable and well-regarded LG V20 to just $360, down from $769. We were excited about this phone going on sale for $500 just a couple of days ago, and this is a way better deal! On top of a killer price, LG has a separate promotion running for people who purchase an LG V20 (or G5) through T-Mobile. Buy one, and submit your receipt through their promotion website and they'll mail you a free 720p LG MiniBeam portable projector which sells for 0 on Amazon.

Your options are limited if you want a newer phone with a removable battery. The LG V20 is a match, but it's spendy. Carriers are asking $700-800, and the unlocked version on Amazon is not much cheaper. However, B&H has the US unlocked phone on discount today. You'll pay just $499.99, but the price goes back up tomorrow. This version of the V20 is similar to what you can get from carriers with a Snapdragon 820 SoC, 4GB of RAM, 64GB of storage, and a 3200mAh removable battery. There's also the 5.7-inch 1440p LCD and secondary ticker screen on the front. Unlike the carrier versions, this phone is unlocked and supports both GSM and CDMA networks. It's also got a good number of LTE bands. The same phone (the US996) on Amazon is currently listed at 9.99, and that's down from the $800 retail price. B&H's much better sale will only be live for the next 12 hours as of this posting—that's midnight on the East Coast.Source: B&H

Sprint can't seem to figure out what the deal is with those new jobs it announced, but it knows it would very much like you to buy a new LG V20. This device has been discounted a whopping 50%, but you need to sign up or upgrade your Sprint line by the end of 2016 to get the deal.

Over two months ago, Samsung stopped production of the Galaxy Note7 permanently. Recalls ensued across the globe, and returns have exceeded 90% of devices sold. Today, if a report from app research firm Apteligent is to be believed, that still means there are more Galaxy Note7s out there in use than there are LG V20s. A lot more. Apteligent's report suggests that there remain well over twice as many Note7s out in the wild as there are LG V20s. The Moto Z just barely comes in above the Note7, too, and according to Apteligent is actually declining in popularity, which is a bit weird.

Few LG devices are lucky enough to get an official bootloader unlock method, so it's always worthy of a mention when a new phone gets supported on LG's bootloader unlock tool. We've seen the G4 and G5 for the EU open market, the V10 for Europe except France, and this is the first time a device from North America makes it onto the list.

It's a big day for Nougat-powered Android on Verizon. Starting today, you can mosey into your local Verizon store and buy a Pixel or a V20. The V20 is available through a few channels, but this is the only place you can go in the real world to get a Pixel.

Sprint is the latest carrier to announce launch details on the LG V20, following both AT&T and T-Mobile. The phone will be available on October 28th, but pre-orders start one week earlier. Pricing isn't clear, but Sprint promises some special trade-in deals and free stuff if you buy a V20.

In all of the fun Pixel news this week, it was easy to forget about other Android phones (well, until this happened). And while no official date has been given for Google's latest at the time of this writing, the Pixels are set to ship to those who pre-ordered within two to three weeks.

Oh, LG. You and your marketing gimmicks. The LG V20 was announced as the first phone that would launch with Android 7.0 Nougat, and indeed, that's about to happen. However, the launch this week is only happening in South Korea. The rest of the world has to wait. It's still first, though. LG was technically correct—the best kind of correct.
