Well, I can honestly say that I didn't expect to be typing this today. It looks like things may be starting to unfold with the Bionic/Targa drama - as in, the Bionic may not be the Targa at all. Now you're curious, right? Allow me to explain, but keep in mind that this is all speculation.
We all know that manufacturers use code names for their devices. For example, the original Droid was codenamed "Sholes" while the EVO was called "Supersonic" during its testing phase. Read More
We've already seen videos and benchmarks of the not-so-well-kept-secret that is the Droid X2, and now we get to see some press shot goodness, along with a little bit of a name change. It turns out that it won't be called the DROID X2, but instead... DROID X². I told you the change was little. So, without further ado, here are the press shots:
That was kind of anticlimactic, wasn't it? Read More
Well, well, well... look what our friends over at Techno Buffalo have come across - the Droid X2! One of their loyal tipsters has sent in some really great pictures of the DX2, including side-by-side shots with the original Droid X. And as if that weren't enough, they even grabbed a quick video of this upcoming monster performing a Quadrant benchmark. I know you're probably frothing at the mouth to see that, so it's first in line:
Did you see that score? Read More
I know that everyone loves leaks, so here is a good one for all of the devs out there, especially ones that are looking to port Sense 3.0 to devices that HTC says won't get it (at least not all of it anyway). A test ROM for the HTC Sensation (yes, the one we just told you about on earlier this week, also known as the Pyramid) has publically leaked with all goodies, including Sense 3.0, intact. Read More
The rumors surrounding the Droid X2's hardware have been kind of sporadic, but it looks like we are starting to get a more definite look at what will be packed under the hood of this device. Some benchmarks that have appeared over at Nenamark are basically confirming the presence of a Tegra 2 dual-core processor and a qHD display, the latter via the device's reported resolution of 960x540.
This new information suggests the device is most likely a finished product and that release is upon us, making a launch sometime in May seem even more plausible. Read More
Having one device leaked is so last fiscal year, man. Verizon is hip to the new trend of leaking out details of all of your devices and giving people a heads-up to not buy phones that are out right now since they're just gonna get replaced anyway.
Androids aren't the only things on show, but forgive us for omitting those not relevant to the droid-heads (check BerryPolice.com, great site).
Motorola's got the lion's share of the devices. Read More
Back in the good old days, before our fantasies were crushed by manufacturer-carrier partnerships and vested interests, we dreamt of being able to make calls over whatever medium we damn well pleased. T-Mobile fed that desire further, with “Hotspot Calling” in 2007, subsequently causing temper tantrums with levied surcharges in a way that now reminds us of Ma Bell and their ludicrous femtocells. It’s such a pity they never took it any furth-

For one of the first phones out with a Snapdragon, this sure has been some time coming. Over at the MoDaCo Android forum, poster LIQUID_USER managed to obtain what he has described as a “very early build” for Acer’s 3.5”, Éclair-running slate. Despite this somewhat unofficial status, the build Acer_LiquidF_0.007.00_EMEA-GEN1_05.01.01) is said to be quite stable, with most device functions working as normal, including wireless tethering and Adobe Flash.
As expected, performance benchmarks have increased but the CPU still can’t quite catch the Nexus One at its current clocking (on the other hand, the Acer Liquid’s GPU drivers have always produced better results than the N1, which has sparked a porting project over on XDA-Developers). Read More
This is certainly one of the worst kept mobile secrets in a while. It seems we can barely go more than a few days without more Droid X/Xtreme/Shadow or Droid 2 pictures leaking. In this case, it seems Mr. Blurrcam is on vacation and let his high resolution counterpart take a few more pictures of the Droid X.
There’s not a whole lot of new information at this point, but that’s to be expected considering the rate at which we’ve been seeing leaks. Read More
Good news for users of the T-Mobile MyTouch 3G: It seems you will be receiving some Froyo love after all!
Nothing is 100% official at the moment, but the T-Mobile fanatics over at TmoNews have a pretty convincing screenshot that supposedly details the upcoming upgrade for the MyTouch 3G.
In addition to the upgrade to 2.2, T-Mobile is apparently planning on throwing in the modified ‘Faves Gallery’, and ‘Genius Button’ applications as well. Read More
