HTC has been sitting out the tablet game for a while now. After the monumental failure of the Flyer and the Jetstream, the Taiwanese manufacturer has kept its nose out of the slate market. If these images are to be believed, though, the company is at least considering new ideas. Some very strange ideas at that. The pictures show a tablet that has one abnormally large bezel area, while the three others are normal sized. Read More
Anyone who's been keeping up on the Android blogosphere this year will know that Samsung managed to keep a pretty tight lid on the Galaxy S III prior to its release - we didn't really see any credible leaks up until a few weeks before the official announcement. And now, Samsung, in an apparent attempt to let the world know it's practicing Apple-level secrecy, has let us in on the deets of how it hid its flagship from the media's prying eyes. Read More
A couple images of the rumored Droid RAZR HD just landed on Droid Life, showing off the back and side the device; while that really isn't much, at least it's something.
For starters, it's pretty obvious that Motorola stuck with the distinct RAZR Kevlar backing, which is quite nice. Otherwise, there's a camera - rumored to be 13MP - a flash, a speaker, and of course, the 4G LTE logo and Verizon branding. Read More
The internet is positively buzzing with news of a supposed leak of the T-Mobile Galaxy S III in both white and the still elusive pebble blue variety. Many sites seem convinced these are the real deal, and as much as I'd like to believe that, there are some issues that leave me feeling skeptical.
For all the past Samsung Galaxy phones, the US variants have moved to the more common row of four capacitive buttons. Read More
S Voice is Samsung's entry into the fledgling "virtual assistant" market currently occupied by Siri, Evi, Speaktoit Assistant, Vlingo, and a handful of others. The Galaxy S III rom leaked earlier today, and while most of the stuff in it is broken and completely useless without the version of Touchwiz it's meant to run on, S Voice is a perfect combination of being interesting AND working. So we're going to take a look at it on my Galaxy Nexus, which is currently running vanilla (well, AOKP) 4.0.4. Read More
Hey kids! Looking for an early taste of the new Touchwiz? Well you're in luck! A leaked Galaxy S III ROM is out in all it's bandwidth crushing glory! A whopping 800MB download awaits those eager to get their hands on Samsung's latest.
The Galaxy S III and its new version of Touchwiz will make about a million additions to Android. Somewhere in this download are things like S-Voice (a Siri-style virtual assistant), Pop-up Play (a floating video window), and Smart Stay (which uses the front facing camera to refresh the screen timeout), just to name a few. It's nothing new for images or specs of a device to leak prior to its announcement, but this time it does dash the hopes of some Android fans to bits. The Samsung SPH-L300 for Sprint was first leaked in a user profile that lacked any real information. It was put forth that this could be the Sprint version of the Samsung Galaxy S III already in testing, but if this new leak is to be believed, this is a completely different and thoroughly mid-range device. Anyone that has ever spent any length of time with an e-ink based e-reader like the Kindle or Nook can attest to their uselessness in dark spaces. Now it looks like Barnes and Noble is going to be taking a crack at fixing that shortcoming of e-readers in an effort to gain some traction in its battle against Amazon. Leaked signage points to an updated Nook Simple Touch with a front-lit screen, and it might be here sooner than you think. Read More
A couple of new images of both the internally-named Motorola Spyder, rumored to be the device Moto and Big Red have planned to announce as the Droid RAZR on October 18th, as well as the 8.2-inch variant of the XOOM 2 have surfaced. While we've already seen rough prototype shots of both XOOM 2 variants once before, this new leak shows a much more polished look on the little brother, suggesting that it's near completion and most of the kinks have been worked out.
