Rootless Pixel Launcher for non-Google devices hits Play Store as 'Rootless Launcher'

Discussion on the subject of home screen launchers can get downright tribal, but my recent favorite has been Amir Zaidi's "Rootless Pixel Launcher," a version of the Pixel-style Launcher3 ported for other devices. It was a bit annoying keeping it up to date, though, as updates had to be downloaded via his GitHub. Thankfully for the lazy, Amir Zaidi has just released his launcher under the new name "Rootless Launcher" to the Play Store. There's just one catch: for full Feed functionality, you'll also need the "Rootless Pixel Bridge" companion app — which the launcher can pull down for you.

Modified Pixel Launcher for all devices hits version 2.1, brings new Oreo features and much more

Google has a habit of keeping its launchers exclusive for its own hardware line. The Google Now Launcher was exclusive to the Nexus 5 for quite some time, and the Pixel Launcher is still only available on the Play Store to Pixel devices. Yes, installing the APK off sites like APK Mirror was an option, but not all of the features were intact.

However, us enthusiasts have a habit of getting our way with these things. The modified Pixel Launcher APK that we wrote about two months ago has now hit version 2.1, and it brings a ton of new things.

Modified Pixel Launcher APK enables the Google Now pane and other Pixel-exclusive features to work on any device, no root or mods required

It's been eight months since the Pixel Launcher was unveiled alongside the Pixel phones, but it's still exclusive to Google's latest and greatest. Sure, you can download it from sites like our very own APK Mirror and it'll work for the most part, but you still miss out on a lot of the Pixel-exclusive niceties, namely the Google Now pane. However, a developer by the name of AmirZ has come along and made something pretty sweet: a modified Pixel Launcher APK with all of the cool little extras that the Pixel comes with.
