Since April, we've known that the popular MMORPG RuneScape would arrive on Android this summer, and Jagex even announced at the beginning of this month that the game would arrive on June 17th. Well, the developer has stayed true to its word, and so RuneScape is finally available on the Google Play Store. This release has been a long time coming, seeing the Jagex originally announced the mobile version of RuneScape back in 2018. Sadly it would seem the wait wasn't worth it as the game is struggling with a host of issues where its Play Store rating has dropped from 4.9 all the way down to 2.6. Ouch.

Runescape is coming to Android, and you can get some freebies if you pre-register now

It's been a while since we've heard about the upcoming release for RuneScape on mobile, three years in fact. Until now, members who have been actively paying for a RuneScape subscription have been able to test the mobile beta, but now it would appear that Jagex is finally ready to release the game to the masses. As of this afternoon, interested parties can pre-register for the MMO on the Google Play Store. Depending on how many people register, there will be varying exclusive in-game rewards.

Back in September Jagex announced that Old School RuneScape would be releasing on Android on October 30th, and lo and behold, OSR Mobile is now officially available on the Play Store as a free-to-play release. That's right, the members beta is finally over, which means OSR Mobile no longer requires a subscription to jump in and enjoy its classic MMORPG gameplay.

If you are not a RuneScape fan, then you probably weren't aware that there are two different versions of RuneScape available on PC. One is called Old School RuneScape, and the more modern version is known merely as RuneScape, though it's sometimes called RuneScape 3. Old School RuneScape is set for release on Android this October 30th, and while the regular version of RuneScape is also coming to Android, an official release date is still unknown. The good news is that if you would like to try it out, a members-only beta has officially started today.

Back in July, Jagex finally listed its classic MMORPG Old School RuneScape as a members-only beta client on the Google Play Store. If you are a paying monthly subscriber, you can use the beta client with your account. If you'd rather not pay, then you should be glad to hear that Old School Runescape will soon be available for free on mobile, and as of this morning, we know this will happen on October 30.The mobile version of Old School RuneScape offers full cross-platform play with PC, which means you can pay the monthly sub to play on mobile and PC right now, all using the same account. What's really cool is that once the mobile version officially launches on October 30, there will no longer be a requirement to sub to the game when using the Android client. There will still be plenty of perks for those that pay the subscription fee, but at least those that are curious will be able to see if they enjoy the game enough to bother paying. There are already a few locations included in a recent soft-launch, so if you happen to live in Canada, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, or Sweden, you should already have the ability to play without a subscription.Oh, and if you happen to or plan on subscribing to Twitch Prime (I also hear a Prime Video subscription works), then you might want to utilize the free one-month Runescape membership that's included. It will only be available for the next few weeks, as the promotion is over on Sept. 19th. So if you are interested, make sure to snag it soon. Most of the world will have to wait until October 30 to play Old School Runescape for free on Android, but for the impatient, it's nice to see an option to get in right now, even if that means you have to pay a subscription fee. Of course, if you'd rather wait until the free release, you can pre-register to be notified when it goes live by clicking on the widget below.[EMBED_APP]https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jagex.oldscape.android[/EMBED_APP]Source: Runescape

Jagex originally announced that Old School Runescape would be coming to mobile last July, and as you can imagine MMORPG fans from around the world rejoiced. Since then people have been getting antsy thanks to the many high-profile classic MMOs that have also been announced for mobile that have yet to see a proper release. Well, it would appear that Jagex is one of the few devs that is going to deliver. Old School RuneScape is finally listed on the Play Store, though it's only available as a members-only beta. An $11 monthly subscription to the game is required.
