Time comes for us all. It's a lesson Microsoft's learning the hard way, as its once-dominant browser is finally — finally — no more. Never again will that circular "e" logo be the first icon you click on when booting a new PC, nor will you have to spend a Saturday afternoon uninstalling seven toolbars from your mother's computer. Internet Explorer dies tomorrow, June 15th, leaving nothing but memories — and, you know, Edge — behind.

One of the longest living Google products has just been sent to the company's infamous graveyard. You may not actively remember it, but the Google Toolbar for Internet Explorer is no longer available for download. 21 years ago, it was conceived as a little add-on for the then most popular browser on the web that enhanced the experience with many neat and thoughtful features that have since long made their way into browsers themselves.

Internet Explorer had a good run, but it's been trying to shake its dodgy reputation for years. Despite Microsoft's bet efforts, using a third-party browser on your PC became a necessity for many of us. Google ultimately ended up killing Internet Explorer in favor of Microsoft Edge, and the last version of Internet Explorer we got was released in 2013 with Windows 8.1. We're now in 2021, and it's far past time to move on, so even Google Search is dropping support for the geriatric browser.

If you were around the time when dial-up internet was still a popular way to connect to the world wide web, you've most probably used Internet Explorer (IE) and clenched your fists in frustration — just IE shenanigans. Well, after being in existence for over 25 years, the antiquated Microsoft browser is being retired in favor of Edge next year.

The Internet Explorer has long had a reputation for being slow and outdated, but many businesses still rely on Microsoft's old browser for compatibility reasons. If they're using Google Workspace, they might soon have to look for a more modern solution. Following Microsoft's statement that it'll stop supporting Internet Explorer 11, Google has announced that it will pull its productivity tools from the aging browser from March 15, 2021.

With no obvious cause, numerous subscribers to Google Play Music All Access have suddenly found that just about any non-Chrome browser cannot use the web app to stream songs. Starting on July 9th, reports started flooding in from users of Firefox, Internet Explorer, and Safari about the Play Music web app not functioning correctly. Even more curiously, it will work for songs that a user has uploaded; only the songs that are accessed via the All Access subscription fail to stream.
