AT&T's HTC One Mini Is Finally Getting The 550MB Sense 6 OTA

AT&T's HTC One Mini Is Finally Getting The 550MB Sense 6 OTA

The HTC One Mini might not have had the high-end specs of its big brother, but it was still a stylish little phone. The AT&T variant has been a little behind on the updates, as carrier phones often are, but today that changes—the Sense 6 OTA for the One Mini on AT&T is rolling out.

We've been hearing rumors of a "mini" version of the HTC One M8 almost since the flagship phone itself started leaking, and today we've seen some of the first concrete evidence that it's nearing completion. Perennial mobile Deepthroat Evleaks posted the renders/press photos below, showing the new device in three different colors. It preserves the style and materials of the current HTC One line.

When it comes to "small" phones sporting 4.3-inch displays, the options are really slim these days. The top options each come with custom UIs, and consumers don't have the luxury of picking up a Google Play Edition of any of them. People who want a zippy stock Android experience on a smaller device that's still relatively powerful are therefore placed in a position to take matters into their own hands. For HTC One Mini (M4) owners, CyanogenMod is now here to help. The project has officially rolled out support for the device, with an experimental build produced on-demand available now and a nightly expected to show up later tonight.

Well, that didn't take long. After getting word yesterday that the update was ready, Ma Bell has started rolling out Android 4.4.2 KitKat to the HTC One Mini. Along with 4.4.2, the update includes HTC Sense 5.5 with all the OEM-specific tweaks you'd expect.

Today is HTC's moment in the sun. With the new HTC One M8 officially unveiled (finally), we've been cranking post after post. New things are exciting, after all. But hey, we shouldn't overlook the slightly older HTC One models that haven't even hit their first birthdays. So here's a bit of good news for HTC One Mini owners on AT&T. The company's planning on rolling out your Sense 5.5 and Android 4.4.2 update by the end of this week.

HTC hasn't built up the best reputation when it comes to supporting its devices, but the company is working to change that. So far it has issued updates to the HTC One relatively quickly, getting KitKat out before Samsung. A few days ago, HTC took to Reddit to announce a new two year commitment to support new North American flagships with Android updates for two years. Now the company has made this promise official, enshrining it as part of its new HTC Advantage.

Is the HTC One "classic" just a little too big and ungainly? Then perhaps the HTC One Mini is up your alley. It just so happens AT&T is looking to sell one to you. We've known the HTC One Mini was headed for Ma Bell, but the carrier just made it official. It's half the price of the full-sized One at $99.99, which isn't a bad deal.

Just how big is the HTC One Max (AKA T6), rumored to use a 5.9-inch screen? It's big. So big that it dwarfs the HTC One in a new photo from ePrice, the source that leaked the original photos of a purported Chinese model of the upcoming phone. The latest leak shows it next to the One and One Mini, making a family portrait for the One series.

It was only a matter of time until HTC stepped up to Samsung and offered a "phablet" of its own, and it looks like that time is drawing close. Chinese site ePrice, source of numerous reliable leaks in the past, has posted a photo of a 5.9-inch HTC device set to take on the Galaxy Note series, Xperia Z Ultra, and the like. According to the post, it's called the HTC One Max, codenamed the T6.

The HTC One Mini has been a pretty poorly kept secret for some time now, and while it has previously been rumored as an upcoming AT&T handset, we can now all but confirm this fact - with pictures! This is the AT&T "HTC One mini," (the model name in the settings menu has 'mini' in lower-case) as leaked to us by an anonymous tipster.

Update: The post has now been published.

HTC One Mini (a.k.a. M4) Spotted In Leaked Photos Next To Its Bigger Brother

Making slightly smaller versions of your flagship smartphone with the "mini" designation seems to be all the rage these days. Just a week after Samsung confirmed its Galaxy S4 Mini, we're seeing compelling evidence that HTC's One Mini (possibly codenamed the M4 - the One was the M7) is close to completion. Estonian website Forte has a wide variety of leaked shots showing what's purported to be a One Mini in black, standing grille-to-grille with its larger sibling.
