Google Recorder is already a pretty neat solution to live transcribe your voice notes with near-perfect accuracy right on Pixel phones. The app picked up a ton of features earlier this week with its second big update, and it doesn’t look like Google is willing to stop there. A new teardown reveals an unannounced feature in Recorder that could let users automatically back up their recordings to Google Drive.

When you think about it, WhatsApp isn't the most intuitive messenger when it comes to moving from phone to phone. You need to turn on local backups or enable uploads to Google Drive and have to remember to back up before you factory reset your old phone, otherwise you might lose your most recent messages. And from a security standpoint, these backups are a nightmare, too — in contrast to messages you send and receive, they aren't encrypted. WhatsApp is looking to change that and is working on password protection for its cloud backups.

Given the fast rate at which WhatsApp betas are rolling lately, we keep getting frequent tips about certain small changes to the app that have occurred over one of the many revisions but that we can't pinpoint to a specific version of the app (unless we go ahead and install and test each version, but ain't nobody got time for that!!!). So here we are today with a list of changes that have been implemented at some point during the past week or two and that are all available in version 2.12.535 of the app.

First, you can now format text inside WhatsApp messages as bold or italics.
