Samsung has gained favor among smartphone photographers with the addition of the Expert RAW app to its Galaxy S21 Ultra, introducing some advanced features that exceed the capabilities of Pro Mode in the standard Camera app. While the Galaxy S22 announcement confirmed every model in the lineup would receive the app at launch, a Samsung forum moderator revealed Expert RAW would be supported on more devices. Just as the S22 is shipping to customers, Samsung has formalized the list of phones and dates they’ll receive official support for the latest Expert RAW app.

Samsung released One UI 3.1.1 alongside the Galaxy Z Flip3 and Z Fold3, adding plenty of upgrades for its foldable lineup, like enhanced flex mode, drag and split, and the new taskbar. Thankfully One UI 3.1.1 is now available for all of Samsung's folding handsets, past and present, with some behind-the-scenes optimizations also making their way to Samsung's more conventional smartphones.

By this point, we know pretty well what to expect from Samsung when it comes to monthly security updates. Usually some international market will get the next month's release a little early, still in the waning days of the previous month — exactly like we just saw happen for the July release right at the end of June. And then if we're very good and patient, a few days later we start seeing the first releases start to appear for US carriers — just like what's happening right now.

We might be facing the heat of July, but Samsung's June patch is still coming to a number of phones. Over the last two weeks, it's reached several devices in the US, including the Galaxy S21 and S10 series, the A10e, the A52, and more.

Will you be one of the lucky three to grab the Galaxy Z Fold2 at its lowest price yet?

It's nearly half off MSRP, but you better move it

Samsung's foldable phones are the best ones on the market right now, but boy, are they ever pricey. The Galaxy Z Fold2, for example, launched at an astronomical $2,000. But right now, you can get one from Microsoft for a whopping $800 off — "just" $1,200. But you'd better hurry.

Samsung's One UI 3.1 update reaches the Galaxy A50 and A51 in the US — here's the complete list of devices

The update is also hitting the Sprint Tab S6 and several budget phones

One UI 3.1 has been rolling out to older Galaxy devices quickly in the last few months. Despite only being an incremental upgrade over 3.0, it carries over several useful features from the Galaxy S21 to its older siblings. Over the last few weeks, One UI 3.1 has arrived for several mid-range devices and some T-Mobile variants.

Nearly a year after its launch, the Galaxy Z Fold2 is still a great device

Smartphone design might feel stagnant, but if you're looking for something that feels new and fresh, you can't go wrong with a folding phone. We're waiting for Samsung to announce its next generation of foldables, but if you can't wait, the Galaxy Z Fold2 is on sale at Amazon for $100 off its usual price.Considering how expensive folding phones can be — and how they seem to hold their value — it's always worth tracking sales on Samsung's high-end Z-series. The Z Fold2 is the first device of its type to earn its place as a daily driver, but its $2,000 launch price was too steep for many. It has since undergone a permanent $200 cut in cost, and with today's deal, you can take an extra $100 off your total. Our review praised its build quality, display, and battery life, and while the camera quality may not hold up to the Galaxy S21, it's far from unusable.

Samsung was ahead of the curve again this month when it released the May 2021 security patch for the international Galaxy S21 before anyone else. That continues now as several devices on T-Mobile receive the same update, even as the June security patch arrives for several devices.

Samsung started updating its phones with the June security patch before May was out, but the S21 series seemed to be having issues. Now things seem to be back to normal as the update is rolling out widely. The June patch first appeared for Korean S21 users on May 27th, but instead of rapidly spreading to more regions, things went quiet. Another June update rolled out a short time later but, like before, failed to reach any other countries. Whatever problems or bugs were plaguing the update seem to have been squashed, with the US S21 getting it yesterday and it reaching the UK today. As well as the usual security fixes, the cameras have gotten a significant improvement. Until now, switching lenses in the S21 camera app was far from smooth, stuttering, and lagging as it zoomed in and out. That's finally been fixed, and switching between the cameras is smooth and buttery.I got it on my UK S21 Ultra today, carrying G998BXXU3AUF6 as the build number and weighing in at 477MB. Hopefully, it will arrive in other regions soon.As always we'll continue to update this post as new devices get updated.

Reports of the Z Fold2's death turn out to be (slightly) exaggerated

Unlocked Galaxy Z Fold2 sales resume at Samsung's store, but things are messy with carriers

Earlier this week, Samsung seemingly ceased selling last year's flagship foldable, the Galaxy Z Fold2. The product listing at Samsung's store was temporarily replaced with a disclaimer that "The Galaxy Fold is no longer available for purchase on Samsung.com," directing customers to other options. While that quickly sparked rumors that Samsung was ending sales in anticipation of its next-gen foldables, the company now assures us that the Fold2 has not been discontinued.

Rumors indicate that the Galaxy Z series is going to get considerably cheaper

Foldable phones are kind of like exotic sports cars: everyone can agree that they're cool, but very few of us can justify the expense for something only marginally more capable than a standard design. According to a recent leak, Samsung's next foldable phones will be considerable improvements in terms of price, bringing them within attainable reach for more consumers.

Samsung has been trying to improve its image in software lately, especially when it comes to security updates for Android devices. What better way than to release an update several days early? That's the case with the May security update, which is already rolling out to several devices, with new features coming to select flagships.

These $2,000 Samsung desserts are the second-priciest but only fourth-tastiest I've had this week

A French bakery in Greenwich, CT can easily outdo Daniel's world-famous dessert, and it's embarrassing

When Samsung announced the Galaxy Z Fold2, it came with a revamped Galaxy Z Premier service that aimed to provide a bit more than mere software support or troubleshooting. It started to come with exclusive rewards, gifts, and promotions. One of the most recent (if you consider six weeks ago recent) was for a dessert box from Michelin star Chef Daniel Boulud. At a $75 value, Samsung and Daniel included a total of 6 desserts, 2 Lemon Madeleines and 4 Cannelé de Bordeaux. (Though the image showed off some sort of open-face macaron, that sadly wasn't included.)

Even after price cuts, is the Galaxy Z Fold2 worth buying in 2021?

Three months isn't too long to wait for a new Fold, which seems inevitable at this point

Last year's Samsung Galaxy Z Fold2 was arguably one of the best phones of 2020. It was the first tablet-style folding phone that truly felt like the future of foldables rather than a prototype. It came with the latest Snapdragon 865+, a flagship-grade camera setup inherited from the Galaxy S series, a 120Hz display, and a new, more durable folding glass display — real glass, just very thin and topped by a polymer. After almost 8 months, is the Galaxy Z Fold2 worth getting? Let's discuss.

Samsung has put a lot of effort into improving its software reputation, and a big aspect of that change has been a renewed focus on issuing regular security updates. Over the last couple of years, Samsung has frequently managed to beat Google to the punch, and that continues even now as the Galaxy Note10, Z Fold2, and S21 have all received the April security patch, more recently followed by the Galaxy A72, Tab A 10.5 (2018), and Tab S7+.

Samsung's elite foldable club gets its strangest perk yet

Galaxy Z Fold and Z Flip owners get free dessert and discounts on rich people stuff

Remember Samsung's Galaxy Z Premier service, that thing they launched when they announced the super-expensive Galaxy Z Fold back in 2019? It's still around! Yeah, weird, right? Initially promoted as an upper echelon of live, 24-7 technical support, Samsung has expanded it into a suite of owner benefits for its most expensive devices. Including desserts, apparently.

Samsung has permanently dropped the Galaxy Z Fold2's price by $200, bringing the retail price down to "just" $1,800. I know, that's still a lot of cash, especially for an unproven form factor, but foldables are one of those things you just have to try to understand, and this makes the best one you can buy right now a tiny bit more accessible. There's also a cherry on top: If a friend with a Z-series foldable sends you a referral code, you can snag an extra $100 off.

Samsung has really been owning it when it comes to the Android security patch game. Continuing that impressive track record, Samsung is already releasing the March 2021 update for several devices, even though we're still in February. As well as keeping our devices secure, we're also seeing some new features land, as the Galaxy Tab S7 picks up some new iPad-inspired capabilities.

Samsung is reportedly working on a dramatic dual-hinge Fold flagship for 2021

A wider tablet-style screen would work better for apps and video

If one fold is good, two folds are better. That appears to be the thinking at Samsung's R&D department, where engineers are reportedly hard at work on a double-hinged phone in the Galaxy Fold series. According to a business report from Nikkei, Samsung is looking into a double-hinged design, with hopes to unveil it before the end of 2021. That's on top of new iterations of Samsung's existing folding designs, the large Galaxy Z Fold and the clamshell Galaxy Z Flip.
