Samsung Video Billboard Turns A Moscow Office Building Into A 260-Foot Galaxy S7 Edge

Samsung Video Billboard Turns A Moscow Office Building Into A 260-Foot Galaxy S7 Edge

These days advertising seems to be looking for an edge, a unique and original approach that will engage potential customers and hold their attention better than the bombastic and simple ads of days gone by. And then again, sometimes it doesn't... sometimes subtelty goes out the window, right before you apply a sign the size of a 25-story building to the other side of it. Such is the case with a Samsung advertisement in the Sokol district of Moscow, which uses a 262-foot tall building as a backdrop for the world's largest Galaxy S7 Edge.

Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Review, Take 2: Not Only Convincing, But Nearing Perfection

Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Review, Take 2: Not Only Convincing, But Nearing Perfection

The only Samsung smartphone I have owned and used was the Galaxy S3 (well, I also had the Galaxy 5 - not S - for a few weeks, but that doesn't count). I had been eyeing the company since the original Galaxy S, checking what it's doing and waiting for it to be convincing before I dipped my toes and grabbed the S3. I liked the rounded design, even though everyone criticized it. I loved the powerful hardware too, but I hated TouchWiz. It took me two weeks to get fed up, root the phone, flash a custom recovery, and start trying different custom ROMs that removed some of the bloat and smoothed the experience.

Republic Wireless Brings Its A Game: New GSM Partner And Plenty Of Modern Devices To Choose From Starting July

Republic Wireless Brings Its A Game: New GSM Partner And Plenty Of Modern Devices To Choose From Starting July

I never thought there would be a day when I'd know this much about US carriers and MVNOs, but this is what happens when you work on a US-based site like Android Police. Republic Wireless though comes a lot less often on our radar, and I just discovered why. Until now, the MVNO only had a couple of devices to choose from. Literally, a couple: the Motorola Moto G (3rd Gen) and Moto E (2nd Gen). It also seems to be ahead of its times, relying on Wi-Fi calling and piggy-backing on Sprint's network when Wi-Fi isn't available.

But things are about to improve by a few leaps and bounds for Republic Wireless.

Verizon Is Rolling Out An OTA To The Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge Tomorrow, May 6

Verizon Is Rolling Out An OTA To The Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge Tomorrow, May 6

If you're an owner of a Galaxy S7 or S7 Edge on Verizon, you'll want to check for an update tomorrow. According to the carrier, an OTA is on the way and there looks to be more than just bug fixes and security patches. According to the support documents, here's a list of what we can expect:

  • Security patches, though we aren't sure if it'll be May's or one from a previous month, but since the phones are currently on February's security update, anything will be a welcome addition.
  • A pop-up reminder to close your SIM/SD card tray if you left it open.

The 5 Worst Things About The Galaxy S7 and S7 edge

The 5 Worst Things About The Galaxy S7 and S7 edge

The Galaxy S7 and S7 edge are great phones, you'll get no argument from me. But every great product has flaws, and these are the five things that I think are the biggest ones in Samsung's latest flagship devices. Remember to check out our corresponding "Five Things I Love" post for the S7, and be on the lookout for our "Five Worst Things" posts for the LG G5 and HTC 10, too.

[Deal Alert] eBay Has A Galaxy S7 Edge Duos For $650 ($150 Off Retail) With Free US Shipping

[Deal Alert] eBay Has A Galaxy S7 Edge Duos For $650 ($150 Off Retail) With Free US Shipping

All flagship phones tend to get better and better prices the farther out you get from the release date, but Samsung's latest crop seems to be dropping in price especially fast. For example, one eBay merchant is offering a 32GB Galaxy S7 Edge Duos for just $649.99, a solid $150 off the retail price (or much more, depending on where you buy it). That's even better than the aftermarket price for the same phone just a couple of weeks ago. The seller is based in New York, but this particular phone is being sold with a UK-standard phone charger, so you'll need a spare one to use it.

The Latest OTA For T-Mobile's Samsung Galaxy S7 And S7 Edge Enables FM Radio

The Latest OTA For T-Mobile's Samsung Galaxy S7 And S7 Edge Enables FM Radio

It's common for American carriers to mandate the removal of FM radio functionality from popular phones. After all, they'd much rather you used their network services to gobble down data. Something very unusual is happening in the new GS7 update. Samsung and T-Mobile are actually turning on the dormant FM radio functionality.

T-Mobile Galaxy S7 And S7 Edge Get Update That Should Fix Misbehaving Power And Volume Buttons

T-Mobile Galaxy S7 And S7 Edge Get Update That Should Fix Misbehaving Power And Volume Buttons

Samsung may produce the top-selling Android flagships, but that doesn't mean buyers don't encounter a few bugs.

Some Galaxy S7 and S7 edge phones apparently suffer from malfunctioning volume down and power buttons. You press either one, whether to reduce noise or wake your device from sleep, and nothing happens. In either case, it's quite a big deal. You're either stuck with a blank screen or notifications coming in loudly as you're trying to silence your phone.

[Deal Alert] eBay Has A Galaxy S7 Edge Duos (Dual SIM) For $670 - $130 Off Retail

[Deal Alert] eBay Has A Galaxy S7 Edge Duos (Dual SIM) For $670 - $130 Off Retail

The Galaxy S7 Edge is the current highlight of Samsung's smartphone lineup... and boy, don't they know it. The 32GB version of the phone goes for approximately $800 unlocked in the US, well above the non-Edge version of the S7 and considerably more expensive than more budget-minded flagships like the Nexus 6P or the Moto X. But that doesn't mean you're out of luck when it comes to deal hunting. Right now an eBay vendor is offering the international, unlocked, dual-SIM version of the S7 Edge for just $669.99 . Silver, gold, and black models are available.
