CyanogenMod 13 nightlies land for Samsung Galaxy Note 8 and Galaxy Tab S2 9.7

The march of CyanogenMod continues as nightlies hit two Samsung devices. The Galaxy Tab S2 9.7 and the Galaxy Note 8 are receiving CM13 nightlies, with both the WiFi and the LTE variants of the Tab S2 9.7 included.

The Galaxy Note 8 was released in April 2013 with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, while the Galaxy Tab S2 9.7 hit the market less than a year ago, in September 2015, running Android 5.0 Lollipop. The Galaxy Note 8 is only upgradeable officially to 4.4 KitKat, so getting 6.0 Marshmallow support, albeit through CyanogenMod, will be a big boon to owners of that device.

Samsung Announces That The AT&T Galaxy Note 8.0 Android 4.4.2 Update Is Finally Going Out To Devices

Jelly Bean seemed to stick around longer than other versions of Android. While most previous iterations were content to move along with each point release, Jelly Bean stuck around for 4.1, 4.2, and 4.3. It took quite a while for KitKat to arrive, and for some people, that wait has been longer than others.

If you purchased an AT&T Galaxy Note 8 back when it launched in 2013, you probably didn't think you would be stuck with Jelly Bean for this long. But it's true, Samsung has only just now gotten around to announcing its Android 4.4.2 update for the 8-inch tablet.

D'aw, remember that green battery icon?

Samsung Tacks On Audible, SiriusXM, And Zinio Perks To Galaxy Tab 3, Note 8, And Several Other Devices

Samsung is already running circles around all of the other manufacturers shipping Android devices, and while we can come up with many reasons to pick up one the company's products, Sammy's steadily dishing out more. If you register your brand new Galaxy Tab or Galaxy Note tablet, Samsung will give you over $400 in perks. This is a $200 increase over their previous offer, and they've added additional products including Audible, SiriusXM, and Zinio. The Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 launched with most of these perks, but now they've been distributed across Samsung's broader range of tablets.

We've covered most of Samsung's perks before, including $25 of Google Play credit, three months of Hulu Plus for new subscribers, twelve months of Boingo Wi-Fi access for new users, and 50GB of Dropbox storage.

Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 Available Today In Canada

It's a big day for our neighbors to the north! The HTC One hit store shelves this morning, which is a fairly big deal in itself. If you're not in the market for a new phone (or just aren't into the One for whatever reason), but happen to be looking for a new tablet instead, another outstanding device hit Canadian retailers today as well: the Galaxy Note 8.0.

The Note 8.0 is Sammy's newest entry into the eight inch slate market, which also brings most of the best features from the Note 10.1 and Note II along for the ride. I've actually been playing with the Note 8.0 for the last day, and I can say this: it's one of the best tablets I've ever used.

Samsung's Head Of Mobile Reportedly Confirms 8-Inch Galaxy Note Is A Go For MWC

At this point, we can be fairly sure an 8-inch Galaxy Note tablet is a thing that's happening. It has shown up in numerous benchmarks (as the GT-N5100), and supposedly packs a 1280x800 LCD display, which we can all but guarantee will be of the Wacom variety.

Now, Samsung's head of mobile JK Shin has allegedly confirmed the device's existence to Korean news outlet iNews24. The announcement was made at an invitation-only dinner with some of Samsung's newly-promoted high-level officers. Also on the list were a few members of the Korean press. At some point, Shin revealed to iNews that the 8-inch Note would be revealed at MWC in Barcelona, late next month.
