Samsung sends out invite for August 2nd event in NYC for the Note7 reveal

Samsung has just sent out the invitation for its Note7 launch event in New York City on August 2nd. The sixth-generation Note device has been leaked extensively at this point, though I wouldn't be surprised if Samsung has managed to keep a piece or two of information from us about the device at this point. If you want to know what the Note7 will look like, we can show you, because Evan Blass leaked it - in excruciatingly high resolution.

Evleaks publishes press renders of the Galaxy Note7, again confirming name

Want an up-close and personal look at the upcoming Galaxy Note7? Evan Blass has given us just that - no more prototypes or cover glass to extrapolate from. This is the real deal. The Note7, spacing correct there, looks very, well, Note-like. With a hint of Galaxy S7. Which makes sense. As to the name? You can explain that however you want: a preemptive strike against the iPhone 7 (a moniker that lately has been dubbed unlikely by some), a lining up with the Galaxy S series - whatever. Note7 definitely does seem to be what we'll be calling it.

Leaked Image Shows "The Next Galaxy" Event Scheduled For Aug. 2nd, Probably Next Note

A leak posted by Sammobile, pictured above, claims that the next Galaxy will be unveiled on August 2nd at the Lincoln Center in New York at 11AM local time. Interestingly, the leaked image contains the text "The next edge is just around the corner" - suggesting an edge-branded device. There has been speculation and rumor suggesting the next Galaxy Note will be known as the Note 7 (because iPhone 7 and Galaxy S7) and have a curved display like its S7 edge cousin, though will be larger than the last Galaxy Note.

This has led Sammobile to speculate that the name of the upcoming device could be Galaxy Note7 edge, which, well, gross, but plausible.

Familiar Rumor Says Samsung To Switch To Type C USB Port, This Time On The Note 6

Last year, both The Wall Street Journal and Sammobile reported that the Galaxy S7 would feature a Type C USB connector. As you may know, the Galaxy S7 does not feature a Type C USB connector. But these rumors didn't come out of thin air - it seems more likely than anything that Samsung was at least testing Type C connectivity on the Galaxy S7, but for one reason or another ended up sticking with the tried-and-true micro-B connector.

Sammobile is back at it again, this time claiming the Note 6 will mark Samsung's USB-C debut. I do find this more plausible than the S7 rumor, so let me posit my theory here.
