Google Play Movies may be gearing up to provide hundreds of movies to viewers for free — assuming they can put up with a few advertisements. The news comes courtesy of an app teardown done by the folks at XDA Developers, and with so many of us both stuck at home and trying to save money during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, it's very good news, assuming it pans out.

Sling is offering a bunch of TV and movies for free right now, no signup required (Update: Fox content added)

To help fight stay-at-home boredom, Sling TV has just launched a new "Stay in & Sling" promotion. It's a derpy name, but it means you can binge watch a bunch of streaming shows from your computer or Android device, which would usually cost you money, but right now, it's free. Shows include Hell's Kitchen, Forensic Files, and the classic 3rd Rock from the Sun, and you can also watch live news coverage from ABC news.

This app gives you free access to tons of movies and other video via your local library

Most of us know the big streaming service names like Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime Video, and Disney+, but there are a lot of smaller services out there worth your attention. If you have a library card, there's one in particular that you should look into. It's called Kanopy, and it focuses on educational series, independent and award-winning titles, plus a solid dose of the classics. Vudu introduces new service, Vudu Movies On Us, with free films with limited commercials

Vudu, for those of you who may be unfamiliar with the company, is a digital movie provider owned by Walmart. It's been around for quite some time serving up movie rentals, purchases, and digital redemptions. T-Mobile customers should all be quite familiar with the service by now as a free digital rental has been included almost every other week as part of the T-Mobile Tuesday promotion.

Today, Vudu announced a new service called Vudu Movies On Us. Essentially, it's a service that lets you watch movies and TV shows for free, albeit with a few ads sprinkled in (think Crackle).
