[Update: Official new languages + floating keyboard is live] Gboard v7.6 Beta adds a floating keyboard, but it might still be in testing [APK Teardown]

Back in July, a teardown of Gboard v7.4 revealed Google's intent to add a floating keyboard to the experience. With v7.6, it looks like that keyboard is ready for prime time. There are also signs of upcoming Halloween GIFs, plus quite a few new languages.

Gboard v7.5 prepares clipboard integration, hotkey shortcuts for Chrome OS, and more [APK Teardown]

The latest Gboard update landed a couple of days ago with "Minis" sticker packs, a feature developed originally  for the Allo messenger. However, as the story often goes with Gboard, there's still more to be seen with a teardown. There are the first hints about clipboard integration and some kind of hotkey support for Chrome OS. Follow-ups are also here for a previously spotted floating keyboard and the morse code input introduced earlier this year.

Gboard v7.4 prepares floating keyboard, selfie stickers called Minis, spell check, and much more [APK Teardown]

The Gboard team is hard at work building new features into its app, and the latest update demonstrates just how much effort has gone into it. A few additions are already visible, including spell check, a mini mode for the morse code keyboard, and an adaptive icon. Although, the spell check feature still seems to be disabled. Turning to a teardown, we can see development on Minis, which are basically a variant on Allo's Selfie Stickers. Gboard is always working toward a floating keyboard, more Make a GIF effects, and more. There are also a boatload of enhancements for many different languages.

Chrome OS Canary will default to floating virtual keyboard

Over on Google+, "Chromium evangelist" François Beaufort announced that Chrome OS, starting with Canary builds, will default to a floating virtual keyboard. This means that typing onscreen will, theoretically, be easier going forward as Google's desktop OS continues to expand its scope.
