With the 5T, OnePlus introduced its own version of face unlock, aptly named 'Face Unlock." Thanks to its sheer speed, it quickly became a hit. Owners of older OnePlus devices begged for it to be added to their phones, and days later, it showed up on the OnePlus 5 with the latest Oxygen OS beta. The feature then made its way to the OnePlus 3 and 3T via the beta track, and then to the OnePlus 5's stable track. With Oxygen OS 5.0.3, the OnePlus 3/3T gets Face Unlock on the stable track, as well as some other tweaks.

OnePlus 6 face unlock can be fooled by a photo [Update]

Face unlock is all the rage these days now that Apple has invented it for the iPhone X. Of course, face unlock has existed on Android for years—it just wasn't very good. Some device makers are returning to the concept, among them OnePlus. The OnePlus 5T and new OnePlus 6 have face unlock, but it's not as secure as other security options. In fact, one owner has shown that a printed photo is enough to bypass OnePlus' face unlock.

Partial iris scanner support in progress for future Android version

Even though face unlock has been a part of Android since Ice Cream Sandwich, several Android manufacturers have been working on improved versions over the past year, mostly in response to the iPhone X. The ill-fated Note7 had an iris scanning feature, the OnePlus 5T includes face unlock, and the Galaxy S9 has a hybrid of the two features. Starting with the next Android release, it might be easier for OEMs to add iris scanning to their devices.

Face unlock has been in Android for years, though it recently became a hot topic again when OnePlus put it in the OnePlus 5T. The 5T's implementation is stupid quick - so quick, in fact, that you often don't even see the lockscreen before it unlocks. Now, in OxygenOS 5.0.2, the feature has made its way to the OnePlus 5 as promised. There are some other fixes/additions included as well.

The OnePlus 5T's face unlock feature is coming to the OnePlus 5

One of the new features on the OnePlus 5T is face unlock, which works in a similar manner to the iPhone X's face unlock (though OP's implementation is less secure). OnePlus 5 owners already received an early Christmas present in the form of an Android Oreo update, but there is another addition in the works - face unlock support.
