SlashGear reports that Motorola Mobility and Verizon Wireless will be holding a joint press event on Tuesday, October 18 at noon.
We do not have any additional information at this time, but in the past few weeks we have reported on a number of leaks about potential Motorola devices, and the "next big innovation" could be any one of these. A big clue is the event title itself "Faster. Thinner. Smarter. Read More
Over the past few years, Android has grown from a small project in Palo Alto, CA into the most popular smartphone platform on the planet. As such, developers all over the world have taken interest in the platform, providing us with some pretty amazing apps along the way.
O'Reilly Media thought it was about time for a conference to encourage, nurture, and help developers that encompasses the entire Android ecosystem -- everything from app building to revenue models, and what goes under the hood. Read More
Invigorating news out of the (virtual) Sprint press rooms today: the nation's third-largest national carrier is teaming up with none other than Motorola for an "exclusive luncheon event" on June 9. The invite itself was decidedly vague about any possible announcements, only confirming that both Dan Hesse and Sanjay Jha will be at the event and that there will be "hands-on demonstrations of Sprint and Motorola's latest collaborations."
But fortunately for the impatient amongst us, the rumor mill never stops turning, and TechnoBuffalo has heard from a "very well-positioned source" that the highlight of the event will be the Photon 4G. Read More
The Sprint event that we've been all looking forward to for so long is about to start in a few minutes. Tune into the live blog below for our on-location coverage.
It appears that Sprint will be unveiling something for us in Orlando, FL on March 22, as they have issued media invitations for an event that will be "showcasing the latest innovations from Sprint."
What exactly will be showcased is a mystery at this point, but the last time we were invited to an exciting event from Sprint, it was to preview the dual-screen Kyocera Echo phone (which some viewed as a dud of an announcement). Read More
As you may have guessed from the title, I figure I'll let you know what I think about the Echo while you're here (alternatively, if you don't care what I think, scroll on down for the poll). (For those who need to familiarize themselves with the device, here's the official announcement.)
So, two screens for the price of one - that seems to be Sprint's angle with the Echo. After a completely unrelated appearance by David Blaine at its big launch event today, America's comeback carrier debuted this circus freak of a handset. Read More
There's been no shortage of leaks involving the Xperia Play, but Sony Ericsson hasn't said a single word on the matter... until now, that is. A new event was just posted on the company's Facebook page, and guess what it's related to:
That's right - expect an official announcement of the Xperia Play on February 13 (the day Mobile World Congress kicks off) at 1:00 p.m. EST / 10:00 a.m. Read More
As part of today's Honeycomb- and "Android ecosystem"-event, Google demoed Renderscript - a new 3D graphics library in Android. And part of their demo? A new application called Google Body, aka the "Google Maps of human anatomy."
It looks like it'll be a pretty cool way to explore the human body - just like Maps, you can strip away layers (i.e. skin, bones, etc.), rotate it in 3D, and search for body parts before having them highlighted in the app. Read More
Oh yes, those juicy rumors about an online version of the Market were true - the "Android Market Web Store," as Google is calling it, is accessible now via market.android.com.
As you can see, a list of featured/best selling games populates the front page, along with a list of categories, a "Sign in" button ( Read More
which, at the time of this writing, leads to an 'invalid request error'), and a "Search" function.
: And it's back, with no noticeable changes. Nonetheless, we'll be sure to let you know if and when Google announces something Market-related - stay tuned!
We don't want to jump to conclusions here, but it's February 2nd - the day of Google's Honeycomb- and "Android ecosystem"-related event, and the Market is currently experiencing downtime. It makes perfect sense given the rumors we've been hearing about an upcoming update to the Market, though it could, of course, be nothing more than scheduled maintenance. Read More
