CloudMagic Gets A Big Update From v1.0 To v5.0 With Quick Filters, Custom Colors, Access To All Folders, And More

CloudMagic was updated with Android Wear support just as the first watches were going home with I/O attendees. That was still v1, but now we're making the jump to the v5.0 branch, which seems a little dramatic. In fairness, there's a lot of new stuff.

Google Announces 13 New Languages For Gmail - Afrikaans, Georgian, Mongolian, Nepali, And More

We cover many Gmail updates around these parts, but the most important aspect of any email client remains the ability to read it. Today Google has announced support for an additional thirteen languages, bumping the total number up from 58 to 71. The change should benefit speakers from many corners of the globe, as the list shows languages from Africa, Asia, Europe, and North America.

The thirteen new languages are:

  • Afrikaans
  • Armenian
  • Azerbaijani (Azeri)
  • Chinese (Hong Kong)
  • French (Canada)
  • Galician
  • Georgian
  • Khmer
  • Lao
  • Mongolian
  • Nepali
  • Sinhala
  • Zulu

This support applies to the web version of Gmail, both on computers and mobile devices.

Google's Stock Email App Finds Its Way Onto The Play Store [APK Download]

Google, in a continued effort to break stock Android apps out of Android, has just added Email to the Play Store. It's the Email app you know and love from Android, but with a few added features. For the initial Play Store debut, Google has beefed up security (in unspecified ways) for Gmail accounts, improved the account setup flow, added printing to the app, and fixed "other bugs."

[New App] Microsoft Continues To Support Android With The Addition Of Outlook Web Access App [Updated]

Update: Microsoft has stated in a blog post that support is limited to a select number of devices for this pre-release version. The company is opening up compatibility regularly, so if your device isn't supported just yet, check back later.

When a Microsoft app comes to Android, chances are that it's not going to be exciting (seriously, take a look at the list). This is not a jab at the competing tech giant.

Mailbox (From Dropbox) Updated To Add Action Buttons To Email Notifications

The first notable update for the new Android version of Mailbox adds a spiffy, time-saving feature: action buttons in the app's email notifications. Users should now see a "Reply" button on the expanded Mailbox notification, as well as "Archive" and "Snooze" buttons, which are activated via swipes while in the app itself. These should help achieve the app's stated goal of making email organization faster and easier for time-strapped mobile users.

[The Android Police Files #7] But I Must Request Assistance, I Am Requesting Assistance

A flood of email fills our inboxes over the course of a month, and as the generally somewhat vaguely nice people that we pride ourselves on being, we do our best to respond to them. But we're not a helpline, nor do we hold much sway over what Google, Samsung, or Sprint say, think, and do. We, frankly, are powerless to address some of the concerns people bring to us. It's sad, I know, but take a look for yourself.

[New App] Dropbox's Mailbox App Finally Comes To Android To Tame Your Inbox

Mailbox launched on iOS last year, and users were impressed with its ability to efficiently manage a flood of email. The response was so good, Dropbox bought the company. Now an updated version of Mailbox is on Android for you to try with your Gmail or iCloud account.

[New App] MarkAsRead For Gmail - Wait For It - Sticks A Mark As Read Button In Your Gmail Notifications

MarkAsRead for Gmail is a quintessential Android app. It does just one thing, and before you go hunting for an app description to figure it out, try giving its name another read. That's right, MarkAsRead for Gmail... lets you mark Gmail messages as read straight from the notification. In between the usual archive and reply buttons that Google provides out of the box, this app sneaks in that ever-so-useful (mark as) read option.

[Hands-On] Nine Is A Clean And Attractive Email Client Aimed At Exchange Users And Very Few Others

Two days ago I took a look at CloudMagic's Android email client, and I have to admit, it's a well-designed piece of software. Its blazing fast searching is its claim to fame, but even without this functionality, it's an attractive, holo-friendly app with support for multiple accounts and a unified inbox. But - and for many, this is a big but - the app indexes your mail on CloudMagic's servers.
