[Update: Coral Blue, too] Galaxy S9 and S9+ leak in Lilac Purple, show off different camera setups

We know a decent amount of information about the upcoming Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ by now, though we hadn't seen full press renders of either phone - that is, until now. Evan Blass has just posted images of both the S9 and S9+ in an eye-catching Lilac Purple color. More interestingly than the color, the rumors of the single camera on the S9 and the dual cameras on the S9+ have been confirmed.

Xiaomi Mi A1 announced: Android One with great specs, affordable price, wide availability, and a promise of Oreo in 2017

We haven't heard a lot from Android One lately, but it seems that the program is catching on in several countries like Japan and Turkey. You can add India to that list, as well as several dozens other countries thanks to the announcement of the new Xiaomi Mi A1.

Xiaomi had teased a new "flagship dual camera" on Twitter a few days ago, and just like the rumors predicted, this is the Mi A1, the latest Android One (A1, geddit?) phone. And I have to say, Xiaomi pulled all the stops there. It's an impressive device for an impressive little price.

Samsung launches 4 new ISOCELL image sensor sub-brands including Dual, a likely Note 8 candidate

MWC Shanghai started today and Samsung is on the floor making some announcements. The first one is the growth of its ISOCELL technology to become a standalone image sensor brand, with 4 new sub-brands that cater to different devices and markets. The aim is to make it easier for customers to recognize the main strength and features of future devices' cameras.

The 4 sub-brands are Bright for great low-light images, Fast for quick autofocus even in the dark, Slim for thin sensors that still deliver great photos in slim devices, and Dual which have combinations of different sensors to bring multiple features in one device.

The 5,000mAh ASUS ZenFone 3 Zoom is available now for $329

ASUS has just announced the general availability of the ZenFone 3 Zoom. With a focus on insane battery life and an impressive dual-camera set for instant dedicated optical zoom, ASUS has wrapped a pretty fantastic phone up inside a svelte 7.99mm all-metal build. I don't usually go for mid-end phones, but this is really attractive on paper. The $329 price tag is pretty fantastic, too.

Qualcomm announces Clear Sight tech for better low-light photos with dual cameras

Android manufactures have flirted with dual rear cameras for years. Previously it was for quasi-3D tech (see the ill-fated HTC EVO 3D), then for tricks like enhanced bokeh effects (see the slightly less ill-fated HTC One M8 and others), and now phones like the LG V20 are combining different lenses for different applications. Qualcomm hopes to capitalize on this trend with its Clear Sight dual camera processing tech.

LG Announces The V10 With Dual Front-Facing Cameras, Manual Video Capture, And Secondary Display (Updated With Carrier Info)

Mere hours ago we saw LG's new V10 phone leaked courtesy of @evleaks, and now LG has made it official.

The V10, which will be shown off at an event in NYC tomorrow, has the hallmark characteristics we've seen leaked and hinted before - a dual front-facing camera setup and a secondary display along the top of the device.

The dual front shooters, LG says, are for 120-degree selfies (or "standard" 80-degree selfies if you wish), capturing wide-angle photos with minimal distortion.

Hands-On With The LG V10

This morning at the Walter Reade theater in NYC, LG (re)announced the dual-display, triple-camera V10 phone, a device we heard all about last night. After today's (short) presentation, we got a few minutes to play with the V10 first-hand.

The phone is made of stainless steel and Duraguard silicone, materials that contribute to what LG says is superior durability, passing drop tests "from 48 inches at various angles." In photos, the textured, segmented back cover looks kind of weird, but in person it feels pretty nice and isn't too visually distracting. The overall device feels weighty and - because of the stainless steel strips along the left and right edges - smooth.

Huawei's New Honor 6 Plus Looks Like An Apple-Sony Lovechild, Packs Dual Rear Cameras

You might not know it to look at retail stores in the US or Europe, but Huawei has quickly become one of the world's largest phone manufacturers, even while it keeps most of its high-end hardware restricted to China. The company is showing off its engineering and manufacturing chops with the Honor 6 Plus, a new 5.5-inch phone slated to hit the market on December 23rd. It, uh, might look a little familiar.

Like previous Huawei devices, the Honor 6 Plus isn't shy about aping trends from other companies. In this case it's taking the metallic border from the iPhone 5 series, adding in a few touches from Sony's rounded and flat industrial design, and then shaving off just about every corner that it can.

Leaked Ad Says The Secondary Camera On The New HTC One (M8) Is For Low-Light Shooting

We've been wondering what that second camera on the back of the HTC M8 (a.k.a. "The All New HTC One") was all about since the first leaks arrived. If an Australian Telstra ad for the new device is to be believed, it is indeed intended to bolster the phone's low-light shooting performance. The advertisement spotted by GSMArena reveals a few things that we didn't already know, and it does indicate that the "Duo Camera" can "create vivid images even in low light."

Low light photography is always tricky, and it's particularly difficult on mobile cameras thanks to their generally small sensors and lenses.
