The Verizon support docs were recently updated with information on a new OTA that should start hitting Droid 2 Global devices within the coming days (if not sooner). While the update isn't anything major, it still brings some notable enhancements to the D2G:
- Device is enabled with the Wireless Alerting System.
- A Google Security Patch has been added to improve security level.
- Fixed issue where the device may power ON without user interaction.

Although the Gingerbread update for the Droid 2 Global was supposed to begin in mid-June, we've yet to see an official release hit the air. Every time another device gets Gingerbread, I can hear the D2G owners across the nation asking when it will be their turn, and it looks like we can finally answer that question: now.
While it may not be the official build, there is a definitely a leaked version floating around RootzWiki courtesy of aceoyame, that's looks to be a somewhat final build. Read More

Misinformation indeed. Let the inevitable kerfuffle begin!

With the cheapest one costing $149.99, Verizon's Droids aren't exactly stocking stuffers, but at least the price comes with double the value now. That's right - the infamous BOGO (buy one, get one free) deal has now been extended to the carrier's flagship Android devices... all except the Droid Pro, that is. Additionally, the original Droid 2 is excluded from the ad despite being part of the deal, most likely because its global brethren already appears in the ad. Read More
Verizon has finally announced the Motorola Droid 2 Global on the Verizon Facebook page. It may seem a bit backwards since the pre-order has been going on for a while - but now it's officially official. The D2G will be priced at $199.99 with a new two-year contract and after a $100 mail-in rebate - which means you'll be paying $299.99 upfront.
Unlike the original Droid 2, Global owners will be provided with a SIM card so they can use the phone overseas. Read More
This article deals with a couple of advanced topics. If you’re unfamiliar with some of the terms, hit up our primers here:
At this point, Verizon probably shouldn't even bother announcing the Droid 2 Global - it's already starred in a commercial, been featured on droiddoes.com, and even been shipped to customers' doors. Read More
Verizon's upcoming Droid 2 Global, which replaces the still relatively young Moto Droid 2, has exposed some skin today on Verizon's how-to video page. Here, the CDMA/GSM packing world phone is shown off in an official introduction, along with a handful of how-to videos demoing specific phone functions. The $200 QWERTY speed demon (it's clocked at 1.2GHz) is scheduled to be released later this month.
And now, onto the goodies:

Verizon's really steamrolling along with the Android train, aren't they? In addition to last night's official announcement of the Samsung Continuum, the Motorola Droid Pro and Droid 2 Global are now both up for pre-order. Just as we'd heard, the D2G looks to be $200 after rebates, while the DP, as announced yesterday, will clock in at $180 (both with a new contract).
Both devices are "world phones," meaning they pack both GSM and CDMA. Read More
