Realme X7 Max review: Big power, itty bitty software support
MediaTek is stepping up its game with the Dimensity 1200
Qualcomm has been the chipmaker of choice for most mobile gamers with its flagship Snapdragon chipsets. However, MediaTek isn't standing on the sidelines this year, bringing heat to the market with its updated Dimensity chipsets. The Dimensity 1200 is one of its most powerful offerings, and the Realme X7 Max is the first phone outside China to feature it.

Do you think this phone has enough names?
When you see that a phone has a MediaTek processor, you tend to assume that it's going to be a budget model. You might want to check that assumption, starting now: the Realme X7 Max 5G is a flagship design from top to bottom, and it's packing MediaTek silicon. In fact, it's the first phone to use the company's flagship Dimensity 1200 chip outside of the Chinese domestic market.
MediaTek has just announced two new 5G-compatible chipsets for upcoming phones: The Dimensity 1200 and 1100. Incrementally improving on the prior Dimensity 1000, these new chips pack better A78 cores, hit faster display refresh rates, and they're built in TSMC's newer 6nm node. Mediatek hopes they'll end up in your next phone — assuming you can live without mmWave 5G and can stomach the wait.
