Dead Cells is one of the few mainstays across all of my Android devices. It's easily one of the best platformers on mobile, but better than that, the developer is active, and so The Bad Seed DLC has made its way to Android as of this morning. You can pick up this DLC for $3.99, which basically serves as an expansion to the core game. Best of all, the main title is on sale today for half off in celebration of The Bad Seed's release, so if you've yet to snag a copy of Dead Cells on Android, you have until April 6th to pick it for $4.99.
Dead Cells is an extremely popular roguelike that was ported to Android back in June (2020), though the mobile version is on a different upgrade path compared to the console or PC versions. This is why the Legacy Update landed on PC back in 2019 and is only now arriving on mobile. Luckily it would appear the wait was worth it since today's update brings with it a plethora of new features and content to the Android version that's all available for free if you already own the game.
Google has been offering free perks to Chromebook owners for a while now. These perks have ranged from access to free games to access to streaming services like Disney+ or even Stadia. The latest perk added to the growing list is a free copy of Dead Cells, a fantastic indie metroidvania game that would usually run everyone $8.99 on the Play Store. This perk will be available until August 7th, 2021, providing everyone ample opportunity to grab one of the best platformers available on Chrome OS and Android.
In October of last year, I broke the news that Dead Cells had popped up on the Play Store as a pre-registration listing, but the title was soon delisted. Sadly there was no way to know if that listing was a mistake, or if someone had simply pulled the trigger a little early. Well, there is no more need to guess. Motion Twin has announced a partnership with Playdigious to bring Dead Cells to mobile. The title is scheduled to be released on iOS sometime this summer, and an Android version "will come later."
Hey, look at this, the Metroidvania indie hit Dead Cells is coming to Android. The listing just popped up on the Play Store a few minutes ago, and it's currently available for pre-registration. I can't promise that the publisher Playdigious didn't jump the gun a little early, so make sure to check this out while you can.
