[Update: Rolling out again] Google app getting full dark mode for Search, Assistant, and in-app Discover feed [APK Download]

About a month ago, the Google app started showing early signs of a dark mode implementation, but users who had the design only saw it interspersed throughout the interface in some sort of chimera mode that mixed white elements, dark ones, and illegible text in many instances. Now, the proper dark mode is showing up for some users, with the entire interface dipped into darkness, from the entire Google app to Assistant and all of its settings.

[Update: Delayed] Twitter shares some love with AMOLED users with true-black dark mode

Twitter was amongst the early ones to release a night mode for its app. However, even though it's been around since 2016, the interface uses shades of midnight blue rather than black, which might be easier on the eye but doesn't help save as much battery as turning the pixels off on AMOLED screens. The social media giant is now addressing this by rolling out a new "Lights out" option that lets you switch to true-black tones that not only look darker but also reduce power consumption on AMOLED panels.

Therefore, to delight users and remain competitive on the market, many companies are working on developing a darker theme for their apps. Microsoft is one of them, as it announced it was designing one for OneNote back in April and is now doing the very same with its mobile email client.

With Android 10's upcoming dark theme and the app's age starting to show, BitTorrent decided it was time for another redesign with version 6.0.8, released on Thursday. It has a dark mode, a bottom navigation bar, and looks and feels much more modern.
