TCL doesn't have a folding phone to sell you, but it does have more ideas for one

The folding phone market is heating up, and while smartphone manufacturer TCL has shown off concepts for some of its potential foldables, the company has yet to announce a concrete product. That isn't changing, but TCL today unveiled two new form factors it's exploring: a phone with a pull-out display, and one with a tri-fold design.

OnePlus Concept One to feature 'invisible camera' thanks to color-shifting glass (Updated)

OnePlus turns 6 today, and it's come a long way since its first budget flagship killer. We now get four phones from the Chinese brand each year, including higher-specced Pro models, but we've not yet had the pleasure of a OnePlus concept phone — until now.

Vivo's new concept phone doesn't have a screen notch or a front-facing camera because who needs selfies

The device, which only seems to go by the unimaginative name "APEX 2019 Concept Smartphone," isn't only Vivo's first 5G smartphone, it also eschews most modern design sensibilities. The APEX 2019 has "no openings, seams, or bezels," no front-facing camera, a proprietary magnetic power/data connector, and an in-display fingerprint sensor which covers nearly the entire screen.

Vivo Apex hands-on: pop-up selfie cam, in-screen fingerprint scanner, and practically zero bezel

In-display fingerprint scanners on phones had been prophesied for some time, but few expected relatively unknown Chinese manufacturer Vivo would be the first to release a consumer product to the market. The X20 Plus UD went on sale last month, exclusively in China, for around $565.

By all accounts, the fingerprint reader works pretty well, although the phone was mostly unremarkable otherwise. It shipped with dual rear cameras, a 1080p 6.43" OLED panel, and a Snapdragon 660. Vivo isn't resting on its laurels, and here at MWC 2018 in Barcelona, the company has been showing off an even more impressive device.
