Google brings us up to speed with what's new-new (and kinda-new) for Android
The teased Android TV remote, some Gboard improvements, and a few Pixel-exclusive features are coming to your phone
Today, Google has announced the rollout of a whole pile of "new" features for Android and Android Auto — 16 changes, by Google's count. Of course, this is Google, so "new" in many of these cases means they've been spotted in testing for months, and you may have been using many of them already. The tweaks cover a wide range, including accessibility improvements and Android Auto (which we'll cover separately to help streamline things just a little bit), but highlights include a new remote control for Android TV built right into your phone, an Assistant reminders hub, several time-saving Gboard improvements, and the trickle-down of a few Pixel-exclusive features.
Gboard's clipboard suggestions are getting smarter and smarter
They automatically detect links, dates, times, and numbers
Clipboard and autofill suggestions as one of the best features of Gboard. You tap a text field and the keyboard immediately offers to paste something you're likely to write — either a piece of text you just copied or a login/password. But there's always room for improvement and Gboard is now taking its clipboard suggestions to the next level by automatically detecting the most important bits of a larger copied text.
2020 has been a standout year in more ways than one. On personal, national, and global levels, many of us have faced hardships and had to adapt to new realities and life-altering changes. On this day, though, I'd like to put the negative thoughts aside and focus on what has kept us rolling here at Android Police despite it all.

Those clipboard suggestions spotted in Gboard back in April have started rolling out more widely. Some of our readers have reported seeing the feature live in the latest Gboard beta, though it still isn't available for everyone just yet.

Google is testing an even easier way of quickly pasting content from your clipboard in Gboard without a tedious long-press. Building on the pop-up suggestions in Android 10, the folks at 9to5Google have spotted a test for Gboard that makes pasting from your clipboard as easy as a single tap on the top bar.
