Acer's Chromebook Spin 513 might be more expensive than we thought
The Snapdragon-powered Chromebook showed up in new store listings
Acer makes some of the best Chromebooks you can buy right now, including the excellent Spin 713. The only real downside to that laptop is the price; while $630 isn't the most expensive Chrome OS device we've ever seen, it's certainly up there. The Spin 513 was announced last fall, designed as a more affordable alternative to the 713. While the laptop was supposed to be made available to North America in February, listings for this new Chromebook have only just appeared at Acer's storefront for the first time — with a higher price than anticipated.
Acer announces the first Snapdragon 7c Chromebook along with a new Chromebox
The Chromebook Spin 513 achieves 'up to 14 hours' of battery life thanks to the chipset
Acer's products are undoubtedly among the better options when it comes to Chrome OS, as our own Ryan Whitwam would tell you in his Chromebook Spin 713 review. And as part of its annual GPC event, the company has announced a significant milestone for Chrome OS hardware, the Chromebook Spin 513. It's the first to be equipped with the Snapdragon 7c platform, allowing for a fanless design, extraordinary battery life, and optional 4G LTE connectivity. Acer has also unveiled the follow-up to its 2018 desktop Chrome OS machine, the Chromebox CXI4. Both will be available starting Q1 next year.
