[CES 2014] Nvidia And Epic Games Will Partner To Bring Unreal Engine 4 To Tegra K1

After explaining why the GPU in the just announced Tegra K1 was awesome from an architectural standpoint, Nvidia CEO Jen-Hsun Huang went on to reveal that Epic Games would be bringing Unreal Engine 4 to mobile devices via the Tegra K1. Nvidia is keen on getting game developers to include improved graphics for Tegra devices, but Unreal Engine 4 support could take Tegra gaming to a whole new level.

Nvidia is having its traditional CES press event and has taken the opportunity to reveal some details on its next generation Tegra chip. Nvidia has talked about its mobile plans a little in general terms recently, but now we have a name and some specs to go on. The successor to Tegra 4 will be called the Tegra K1 and it comes in two different versions.

[CES 2014] Lenovo Announces ThinkVision 28 Android-Powered 4K All-In-One Display Starting At $1,199

To get an early start to CES 2014, electronics giant Lenovo announced a new 28" Android-powered all-in-one 4K display to add to its substantial line of display products. According to Lenovo's press release and spec sheet, we can expect Android 4.3, a Tegra 4 processor, and a plethora of other features. Here's the official list according to Lenovo's spec sheet:

  • Cutting edge 28-inch ultra-high resolution 3840x2160 monitor
  • High performance SOC with Android 4.3 and powered by NVIDIA® Tegra® for a new entertainment experience
  • Full 10-point touch display for PCs
  • “Tap to Connect” technology allows for seamless syncing of secondary devices to the monitor

Getting in some early news, Samsung has - as part of CES 2014 - announced its new Samsung Smart Home service, a means by which users will be able to control all their connected home appliances (from refrigerators to air conditioners to smart light bulbs) through a single app on their compatible smartphone, tablet, smart TV, or wearable device.

To start, the service will cover three main areas, which Samsung identifies as Device Control, Home View, and Smart Customer Service.

Fuhu Teaming Up With DreamWorks To Release The 'DreamTab' Tablet For Kids

Fuhu is no stranger to partnerships at this point – the company has released the nabi jr. Nick Jr. Edition, nabi 2 Nick Edition, and nabi 2 Disney Edition. And according to the New York Times, it looks like another co-branded device is coming down the pike now, though this one reportedly exits the nabi line and will be released under the moniker DreamTab.

This upcoming device is a collaboration between Fuhu and DreamWorks, and will come in an eight-inch form factor for roughly $300, though a 12-inch version could also show up down the road.
