EVE Echoes has been a long time coming, thanks to COVID, but we are finally nearing the official release. This title will exist as a mobile version of the mainline sandbox MMO, and we've known since July that the game would be officially launched on the Play Store on August 13th. Lo and behold EVE Echoes is available for download a day early, you simply won't be able to play until tomorrow (8/13) when the game's servers go live at 4:00 AM EST.
It would appear that many people are greatly anticipating the release of Eve Echoes, and even though we still haven't heard word-one about an official release date for the sandbox MMO, development is now delayed thanks to the coronavirus. As of this morning, the official Eve Echoes account on Twitter has stipulated that the COVID-19 epidemic has "hindered the developer's schedule," and while an official release date has yet to be decided, the game is expected to be launched at the end of 2020.
EVE Echoes may not be the first EVE Online game announced for mobile, though it does appear it will be the first mobile adaptation to come to fruition. Today NetEase and CCP Games have announced that a closed alpha test for the upcoming mobile sandbox MMO will begin on August 26th for those that live in Australian, New Zealand, and Nordic regions. If you happen to live in one of these areas and would like to participate in the alpha, you can sign up on the official EVE Echoes website.
Last October PlayRaven and CCP Games announced an official EVE Online mobile game. At the time it was known as Project Aurora. In April of this year, Kongregate made it known that they would publish the game and that it would be called EVE: War of Ascension. Last week it was released on the Play Store, but there is one little problem, it would seem very few Android users can actually install it. Play Store user reviews have been trickling in since June 8th, and apparently they have been coming from players located in the Philippines, which should explain why so few can actually install this game right now.
