Welcome to the latest entry in our Bonus Round series, wherein we tell you all about the new Android games of the day that we couldn't get to during our regular news rounds. Consider this a quick update for the dedicated gamers who can't wait for our weekly roundups, and don't want to wade through a whole day's worth of news just to get their pixelated fix. Today we've got a gorgeous narrative adventure, a digital adaptation of a stock market investing board game, an escape the room game, a kawaii-themed casual adventure, an anime-theme gacha game, a MOBA and PvP duel card battler that takes place in the Warhammer universe, and the sequel to Brave Frontier.
I am many years removed from middle and high school, but in the adult world at least, it seems now is a much safer time to be a card collecting geek. But undoubtedly there are still guys who are too intimidated to spend their time playing Netrunner or Yu-Gi-Oh. Instead, they cloak their collector's impulse and stat obsession in a thin layer of NBA fandom. They get their card-battling fix from the MyNBA2K companion app 2K Games releases every twelve months.
MyNBA2K16 has gone live in the Play Store, and this year's addition brings new cards to collect, more ways to customize them, specialty bonuses, and other tweaks that enhance the core mechanic.
There have been Warhammer 40K games on Android before. They have not been particularly good, mostly because they simply slap the license on top of an existing mobile game style and hope the dedicated fans will spend some money. Not so with Warhammer 40,000: Space Wolf. Not only does this game come from HeroCraft, a developer that can generally be relied upon to create decent games, it's a top-down, turn-based strategy title. What an idea!
Space Wolf is closer to a tactical strategy game than a straight-up board game adaptation, but that makes sense in the context of the medium.
Another year, another companion app to another installment in an annual sports series. This time we're taking a look at NBA 2K15. No, it's not 2015 yet, but this is a sports thing. As in this will presumably be what you're using throughout most of next year, since it's coming out at the end of this one. I know most of you are rolling your eyes right now, but there is surely one person reading this who was confused, and I'm looking them straight in the eyes right now.
Anyways, MyNBA2K15 is the companion app to the full console game. Just like last year's entry, it continues to shake things up with a basketball-themed card battle system.
