Samsung will debut 8 new AI-driven projects at CES 2019, including an ASMR phone case and perfume maker

Samsung's C-Lab (Creative Lab) program launched in December 2012 to encourage the conglomerate's employees to indulge their creativity by working on outside-the-box projects. At CES 2019, which will take place January 8th-11th, 2019 in Las Vegas, the C-Lab will show off eight of its new AI-related projects. They run the gamut from zany (a smartphone case to record ASMR content, anyone?) to mundane (a monitor stand that tries to sneakily improve your posture at work).

Samsung's Relúmĭno is a Gear VR powered aid for the visually impared

It was announced earlier in the year at MWC (Mobile World Congress) in Barcelona, and now Samsung's impressive Relúmĭno app has been officially launched. The C-Lab project is designed to help people with visual impairments enjoy the same activities as others, and it uses Samsung's Gear VR headset in conjunction with one of the company's newer Galaxy phones, such as the S7, S7 Edge, S8, or S8+.

Samsung Is Working On A Wearable Early Warning System For Strokes, May Lead To Better Monitors For Many Other Conditions

Samsung's forays into Wearable technology for the consumer market haven't been very groundbreaking, and a few never even touched down. Perhaps the secret was to aim higher than heart rate trackers and smartwatches. A small team at Samsung has been working in the company's Creativity Lab (a.k.a. C-Lab) developing a headset capable of observing brainwave patterns for signs of a stroke. Not only could the system help millions of people each year to prevent a crippling or fatal stroke, but the technology may have applications for monitoring the heart and brain for many other conditions.

The project began two years ago when the project lead, Se-hoon Lim, and 4 other engineers from the smartphone and washing machine divisions came together with the goal of an early warning system.
