It's Official, Microsoft Is Buying Minecraft Developer Mojang For $2.5 Billion

Last week a Wall Street Journal report suggested that Microsoft and Mojang were considering an acquisition worth upwards of $2 billion, and a Reuters article later stated that an announcement would come today, revealing an agreed price of $2.5 billion. Now it's official. Mojang's Chief World Officer Owen Hill has taken to its blog to confirm that the two and half billion dollar acquisition is definitely happening.

Speaking for Minecraft's creator, Hill says in the post that it was never Markus Persson's - known as Notch - intention for the game to get this big.

Twitter Acquires Cover Lock Screen To Build On 'Incredible Potential Of Android'

Cover, the contextual lock screen replacement that's been available in open beta since December has been acquired by Twitter.

For now, the app is still available in the Play Store, and Cover promises that "for now" that won't change. When or if it will eventually change is unclear, but Cover's blog post on the matter goes on to explain their newly forged relationship.

Twitter, like Cover, believes in the incredible potential of Android.
