Pixel Slate pre-orders are now open, ahead of late November availability

The Pixel Slate, Google's new Chrome OS tablet, was revealed at the company's October hardware event, but never got a solid launch date. We watched with bated breath as it passed through the FCC last week, hoping that meant we'd see the new device soon — and it seems that our hope wasn't misplaced. The device is now available for pre-order at Best Buy and the Google Store in the US, with both listings revealing a late November release.

Best Buy will give you a free Nest Cam with your Verizon Pixel 3 purchase

As much as we like it, there's no escaping the fact that the $800-plus Pixel 3 is pricey. Bundles can help take the sting out of that sticker shock, though, especially when the freebie is a high-quality product. Right now, Best Buy is including just such a quality item: the Nest Cam is free with any Pixel 3 or 3 XL purchased and activated on Verizon.

Motorola's iPhone X clone is coming to the United States for $399

Last month, Motorola announced two new Android One devices for international markets — the Moto One and One Power. Both phones look remarkably like the iPhone X, and both have three years of promised security updates. It seemed unlikely that either phone would ever be officially sold in the United States, but Motorola has announced that the regular Moto One will be available from Best Buy on November 9th.

Insignia's cheap Assistant smart speakers can now be paired in stereo (like the Home Max) and place voice calls

Best Buy's Insignia smart speakers are some of the cheapest Google Assistant smart home gear you can get, if you grab them during one of their frequent discounts. The last time we covered them, the non-portable version was only $25 and the portable one was $50, but they've fallen below that recently. Until now though, they didn't offer any incentive to grab them instead of a Home Mini, beside their alarm clock display. That has changed with the latest update.

[Update x2: Statement] The Pixel 3 is the first Verizon LTE Android phone to be SIM locked in a decade, and that'll be a problem for some

Back in 2008, Verizon agreed to the FCC that it wouldn't lock its LTE phones in exchange for winning the 700MHz Upper Block C spectrum. Earlier this year, however, Verizon decided that it didn't have to follow the rules anymore, announcing that its phones would no longer be SIM unlocked out of the box. Google's Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL are the first Android phones to follow this policy, which is proving problematic in some instances.

[Deal Alert] The Blu Vivo XI is down to just $170 ($50 off) at Best Buy

In August, budget phone maker Blu admitted that its tendency to release tons of devices wasn't the best thing. It committed to releasing fewer but better devices, and announced its new flagship, the Vivo XI+, for $299.99. Somewhat contrary to the company's new less-is-more outlook, they also released a lower-tier version, the (non-plus) XI. That phone is now $50 off its already low normal price of $219.99 at Best Buy, going for just $169.99.

Google Express adds Best Buy, Party City, hhgregg, and a whole lot of other new stores

This past summer we saw a lot of new stores come on board with Google Express, Google's one-stop-shop for, well, shopping. But while there's been a boatload of new retailers selling their merchandise through Google's online storefront, we've definitely noticed a trend away from big-name companies and towards a lot of more specialist stores. That situation doesn't look like it's about to fully reverse course any time soon, but today we've got that rare addition of a major new Google Express store, as Best Buy pulls up a chair.
