A new update to Google Maps began rolling out late last night to members of the beta channel. This one is arguably light on notable changes, except that there is one feature that may go live in the next few days: Commuting. It was at least briefly live before being disabled remotely. There are also several new topics for a teardown, including more points for longer reviews, new badges, and more.
Unofficial Changelog: (the stuff we found)
- Commuting (coming soon?)
- Another notification channel for timeline notifications (fixed in 9.63.1)

If you're looking for a particular image of something, Google search is a powerful tool. That can be a laborious task, but Google has just announced a new feature that should lend a hand. It's introducing badges to indicate what content lies behind certain images. Read More
The Aviate launcher has been in alpha/beta for so long, it feels like a Google project. After all, the software runs solidly and has garnered millions of installs. Nova Launcher is one of the most popular home screen replacements out there, and the developers are hard at work ensuring that this doesn't change any time soon. The latest update introduces even more ways to customize every aspect of your launcher's appearance. Anyone who makes the jump to version 2.2 will gain the ability to add backgrounds to their docks, customize the look of their unread badges, and dabble with new scroll effects. You'll need to have Nova Launcher Prime to utilize those last two, though.
- Custom Dock Styles
- Custom Unread Count Badge Styles (Prime)
- New scroll effects (Prime)
- Optimizations and fixes
Nova has long granted us the ability to customize the number of icons on our docks and how much space they take up. Read More
The long-awaited Carbon for Twitter app landed on the Play Store a few days ago, but some were of the opinion that it wasn't quite finished yet. This happens in software development. Nothing to be worried about. What should cause worry is if problems persist for months or years at a time (*coughGoogleVoicecough*). On that note, it should be very encouraging that the developers have already rolled out an update that includes a variety of bug fixes.
Here is the complete list of changes:
- Notification bug that crashed after tapping
- Repeat Notifications
- Notification bug that crashed app when Avatar couldn't be loaded
- Direct Messages Delete bug wasn't saving changes
- Long press bug on Messages
