[Deal Alert] ASUS Zenwatch 1st Gen On Sale For $99 At B&H If You Don't Mind Waiting (It's Backordered)

The original ASUS Zenwatch isn't the best Android Wear device on the market. It does, however, happen to be one of the cheapest options available and is a great entry-level option for someone wanting to see what this smartwatch craze is all about.

The current retail price on the Zenwatch hovers in the $130 to $150 range. Right now you can grab one on B&H for a significantly lower price of $99.99. That's a good price for a smartwatch with a heart rate sensor, a premium leather band, and pretty solid reviews.

There are a couple of small caveats to keep in mind though.

[Deal Alert] Buy An ASUS ZenWatch For $150 (25% Off) On Newegg And Receive A $10 Gift Card

Compared to other "premium" Android Wear watches, the ASUS ZenWatch is kind of square. No, I mean it's literally a square. Okay, technically it's a rectangle, but you know what I'm getting at here. When manufacturers decide they're going to fancy up their Android Wear devices, they tend to make them circular, as was the case with the Moto 360 or the LG Watch Urbane. Not so with this one.

The ASUS ZenWatch sells on the Play Store for $200. You can get it for $15 less on Amazon, at the moment, Newegg will let you walk out with one for just $150.

Asus ZenWatch Coming To The US November 9th, Starting With Best Buy Priced At $199.99

Word has hit the street that the Asus ZenWatch will launch in the US on November 9th. Two days from now shoppers reportedly will be able to pick one up from Best Buy for $199.99, with Play Store availability coming at some point after.

The ZenWatch is a peculiar Wear device. It's square, but unlike the LG G Watch or the Samsung Gear Live, it tries to look more like a traditional accessory than a tech gadget. At two hundred bucks, it's arguably the most premium-looking smartwatch you can get for the price.

A Google executive has also said that the Asus ZenWatch will offer a taste of what customized software can look like on Android Wear.

ASUS Releases ZenWatch Manager, Remote Camera, And Wellness Apps For Its Upcoming Android Wear Device

LG and Samsung got the Android Wear party started, releasing the G Watch and Gear Live, respectively. Those watches only need Google's Wear app to function, but Motorola changed the formula a bit with the Moto 360, tying the watch to the existing Motorola Connect app. For the upcoming ZenWatch, ASUS is beating them all (well, sort of) with three separate watch-focused apps.

The first new ASUS app is simply titled "ZenWatch Manager," and it's essentially a remote setup function for your watch on your phone screen. Its all-blue interface allows you to change simple settings like the watch face, the ambient mode, and enabling your phone to bypass its lock screen when paired.
