Indie gaming classic Super Hexagon is back and better than ever
Today's update includes Android 11 and 12 support, along with high framerate and controller support
Terry Cavanagh is an indie developer best known for his minimal arcade games, such as VVVVVV and Super Hexagon. Well, he just published a blog post that details a significant update for Super Hexagon on Android. You see, the game has been broken for those on Android 11 and 12 for a while now, and today's update addresses this problem while also bringing with it a bunch of new features. Not only has controller support been added to the game, but so has high framerate support (up to 144FPS), along with folding phone/tablet support, improved touch response times, and UI optimizations. It's a banger of an update, and it's available right now.
Tencent is bringing a new Metal Slug game to mobile, and it actually looks decent
The question is, will Tencent ruin it?
SNK and Tencent recently announced a new Metal Slug game for mobile, and it will be developer by TiMi Studios, an incredibly hot Tencent subsidiary that worked on Call of Duty Mobile, and is also currently working on Pokémon Unite. So far we know that the upcoming arcade shooter is tentatively named Metal Slug Code: J (as a placeholder), and so all we have to share right now is a teaser trailer that contains a minute of pure gameplay, and despite what you're thinking, Metal Slug Code: J actually looks like a competent successor in the Metal Slug series.
Missile Command: Recharged explodes onto Android, and it's actually pretty good
A fun, modern take on the Atari classic
Atari just released Missile Command: Recharged on the Google Play Store, and it's a reimagining of the classic arcade game, though shooting down an endless barrage of missiles is still the primary goal. The title is free-to-play and includes advertisements, but you can remove those ads through a single $2.99 in-app purchase, which means this is a fairly priced game, so it's definitely worth checking out.
