Google Assistant can now call a salon to book you an appointment

Google Assistant can now call a salon to book you an appointment

Duplex, Google's machine learning-powered concierge service, spent most of the year in mothballs — at least when it came to its primary intent of booking its users tables at restaurants — but as we inch from mid-pandemic toward post-pandemic normality, the public need for on-site services has become evident. Android Auto is finally bringing back access to calendar appointments

Android Auto is finally bringing back access to calendar appointments

When you're running late to an appointment, or even just driving around town with several stops planned, the last thing you should do is reach for your phone to look up an address. We can look forward to at least one important new feature: Auto will soon get to use our calendar appointments to suggest directions when we're on the way to a destination. As always, grab the apk from the link at the bottom if you don't have it on your phone already.

StatusAgenda Keeps Your Google Calendar Events In Your Notification Shade For Easy Access

Since the introduction of expandable notifications in Jelly Bean, the shade has increasingly become the home for widgets and easy-access controls. StatusAgenda brings this concept to your calendar, creating a persistent list of upcoming events accessible from anywhere in the operating system.

At the moment, the app is pretty barebones, but it doesn't need too much fluff. You can choose from either a larger or more compact layout, and the list of events can be collapsed with the regular gestures you use to open and close expandable notifications. StatusAgenda is free on the Play Store, and still listed as a beta for the moment.
